Laxman correctly puts out the reasons for success. India's under-16 program plays a very big part in India's performance in under-19 world cups. They have a great system in place. Sure Coach plays a role in fine tuning them. But knowing Indian board, Tambellup and harnoor are first picks.

Many ARs who can shuffle up and down order (e.g., sindhu, bawa, hangu), batters who can bowl (e.g., raghuvansh), and bowlers who can bat (e.g., ostwal). Yes. Csnt be lazy pricks like current Indian top order who won't bowl or bowlers who won't bat till number 9. Atleast one guy in top 6 has to be able to bowl. 8 and number 9 have to *ing learn how to bat. This is modern era. I don't care if you are bumrah shami Cummins or rabada. Learn to bat vs bounce and yorker. Improve bat swing.

Improve bat swing. it's not about laziness, more about a sense of entitlement. furthermore, it takes some skill (which can be acquired through hard work) to be a part-time and still do well in cricket these days (Root is one example). Hopefully this current U19 generation do not go the way of their predecessors - Jaiswal, Sarfaraz, Kohli, Rohit, etc. were all useful bowlers, and many stopped bowling. Even ChePu used to roll his arm over at U19 level. Jay and raki05 2

I tell you one thing how Shivam Mavi was picked. For 2018 u19 wc team, selectors picked a team and there was a series against England u19 where they also selected a B team. Shivam Mavi who wasn't in the original squad made it to the after that. He hadn't played much because of injuries but Dravid saw the potential and brought him into the u19 WC squad without being in the squad for preparatory games. These are kind of things that make a difference. Dravid started a different system, brought more players to play the games instead of just sticking to a group of players. He tried to give chances to as many players as he could for preparatory tours and games to identify and filter out the talent. His job wasn't just sit in the dressing room or be with them in the tournament. He created a system which is being followed even when he isn't there. From 2016 to 2022, Indian u19 has made all four finals winning 2. Edited February 6, 2022 by rkt.india Lord 1

Take nothing away from Kanitkar and Bahutule but do not underplay Dravid's role in setting up solid structures for these emerging cricketers. Which makes his pathetic choices as the national coach even more frustrating. At u19 and u23, India A level, he was the boss with NCA. At national senior level, he is just one of kal purjas. That's why he has always been hesitant to be India senior coach and Ganguly shouldn't have forced him to become what he didn't want to. It's not a right choice. Dravid wanted this job and he wanted it on his own terms. Ganguly helped and made sure Dravid got the job at the terms he wanted. You think all the immediate leadership changes over the last few months wasn't blessed by Dravid? LOL Time for Dravid to be a man and own the performances including the loss in SAfrica. Or he can GTFO of the kitchen rightaway. He doesn't get to play the role of an unwilling insert who's doing Indian cricket a favor because everybody wanted him to take over as coach. no Dravid wanted to keep NCA job but BCCI declined to pay 7 cr they were doing earlier. Instead offered 10 cr for Indian coach.Facts only. Dravid is no saint ofcourse, but he didn't want the job.

If he doesn't want the job then shame on him for taking it up because Indian team needs a committed coach, not a reluctant one. So Dravid wants the money on offer as Indian coach even though he doesn't care for the job? Is there a single quote attributable to Dravid suggesting he did not want it? He's an almost 50 yo man ffs. He was reluctant but took up the job when Ganguly insisted.
Vijy Posted February 6, 2022 Posted February 6, 2022 Dravid at this age should stop being Gangu's yes-man. he did that enough when he was Gangu's VC. if Dravid didn't want the job, he should have just said no or threatened to quit indian cricket altogether, which would have made Gangu and co back off
DeepSpace Posted February 6, 2022 Posted February 6, 2022 Why don't we field the UC19 team as Indian national team. At least they will be young, motivated to prove themselves and myabe win us for ICC tophieez! Vijy 1

You think someone of Dravid's stature will not make $1.5 mil (Indian coach salary) if he was not into coaching? He would be a much sought pundit on Star Sports (make a million dollar +), plus a neutral voice on SKY (ala Sanga). Add another 3-4 cr as IPL coach..could be easily making 15 cr+ Likewise, if money was the criteria VVS would have remained with Star Sports earning 5 cr+ salary and 2.5-3 cr salary as Sunrisers mentor instead of taking up the NCA job with 5.5 cr salary and relocating to Bengaluru Vijy 1
