INDIA-TEST-SQUAD-VS-ENGLAND-ANNOUNCED-76

https://cricketaddictor.com/cricket-news/eng-vs-ind-cheteshwar-pujara-back-in-the-side-as-bcci-announces-indias-test-squad-vs-england/

Notably, India will play the 5th and last Test match of the series against England in England, which was cancelled last year due to the Covid-19 outbreak in the Indian camp.

Also, Rajasthan Royals (RR) pacer Prasidh Krishna has been included in the Indian Test squad for England series and veteran pacer Ishant Sharma has failed to make it to the squad. Wicketkeeper-batsman Wriddhiman Saha is also not included, who got dropped from the team ahead of the Sri Lanka series.

Meanwhile, former India Test vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane has suffered an injury :hehe: and will be out of action for a few months.

India’s Complete Squad For One-off Test vs England:

Rohit Sharma (Capt), KL Rahul (VC), Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, Hanuma Vihari, Cheteshwar Pujara, Rishabh Pant (wk), KS Bharat (wk), R Jadeja, R Ashwin, Shardul Thakur, Mohd Shami, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohd Siraj, Umesh Yadav, Prasidh Krishna

The way eng played against NZ looks like it will be difficult to get even a draw. However if somehow Kohli magically gain his form and some youngster like gill perform like he did in aus we might get a draw. Though knowing Macculuam he will never settled for a draw. Bumrah has to be at his best to get rid of root and Bairstow.

Much as I like, I doubt Prasidh will be selected for this crucial match. This is typical like the WTC game, we have to select the best 11.

Rohit

KL

Pujara

Kohli

Vihari

Pant

Jadeja

Shardul

Shami

Bumrah

Siraj/Prasidh

I believe kl is already out of eng series.

Reports said - in doubt

If KL misses out, better to go with Iyer instead of Vihari as he is likely to fare better than Vihari and batting is kind of strengthened

Absolutely Iyer can play well in middle overs whn ball stop swinging and he like to play his shots...otherwise with Pujara vihari combo either we will draw or sure shot loss, victory will be out of equation.

Why not Vihari at 3 and Iyer at 5? Pujara ko chance dekar koi fayda nahi..he will block 100 balls and score 20 runs and get out.

Birmingham is a tough venue..  Hollies stand has a hostile crowd.

Pitch could be seaming but weather I heard is dry this time.

Prasidh hopefully outperforms Siraj in Warm up game.  KL is a huge loss if he isn't fit.

He is selected because he has performed superbly in  county cricket. Likely to repeat his performance. He was not bad in Eng last year in 4 tests

He scored runs on relatively drier wickets of Oval. Not sure if he will fare well in Edgabaston.
