Asia Cup Pitches

Pitch 1

From what we have seen, the first pitch used across 2 games has been a bouncy and decently quick one.

Is it an active choice made by the big guns in Asia to get as much match practice in bouncy conditions as possible, prior to the T20 WC in Australia?

It'll be nice to keep track of the various "tracks" used during this tournament and their properties which I hope we can do with this thread.

Very very poor T20 International pitch. Nothing like Australian wickets except some patches where you get unexpected bounce. It was very difficult to time the ball here.

In Australia T20 pitches are batting friendly with true bounce and pace and ball comes to the bat nicely.

I tend to agree, its probably the closest they managed to get to Australian conditions with a drop-in.
As others have also pointed out the pitch also seemed a bit two paced at times. There were several edges and mistimed shots.

The curator is Aussie, they showed him during the Ind vs Pak game, the commies were saying the green on the pitch might be because the curator is Aussie.

If you have watched Pakistan in the UAE over the years , these kinda scores were very common. 

 

As long as the batting conditions don't change drastically because of dew etc, I don't mind these pitches.

Exactly, that's why I thought it was a decision taken by the Ind/Pak/SL boards to set up an Aussie-esque track.

Pitch 2
Compare this to today's AFG vs BD pitch and the contrast is stark.  Its much closer to the usual UAE pitches we have come to expect.

Odd delivery sticking in the pitch, standard UAE track with limited pace and bounce.

Pitch 4 (SL vs BD)
Above average pace and bounce, the ball spun when bowled at <90 for the spinners; some seam movement for the quicks with the new ball.

The pitch wasn't a flat track yet both sides piled on decent totals.

So an analysis of pitch conditions is cribbing. We need more of such gems.

I definitely haven't seen it all yet.

On to the final leg of the Asia cup.

 

Seems pretty straight forward based on the games played. Old school shiny pitches in Sharjah; new & somewhat quicker+bouncier tracks in Dubai.

Notably all of India's games past and future/probable(including the finals) are in Dubai. Seems like a good call or a good draw not to play in polar opposite conditions(Sharjah). Best possible match prep prior to T20WC.

Toss in Asia Cup - 

 

Toss winner - I will bowl first 

Loser - I would have liked to bowl first as well, but we will try to put up a good score. We still have to play good cricket

People can say what they want but these pitches have produced some interesting matches.
