Time will tell if Shadab can be part of the answer in the middle order - in my view, he should be given a proper extended run in whiteball cricket in the middle order, especially ODIs given the next ODI WC - T20 is a bit more demanding for batsmen in terms of boundary hitting, which honestly I haven't seen enough of Shadab's batting to know if he can deliver on that front. The likes of Asif, Iftikhar or even Shan, just seem to lack the necessary quality to attain any sort of consistent success in top shelf international competition. Pakistan I feel will go only as far as the toss will take them in the WC - Their plan A is to get 'enough' with the bat and hope that the bowlers can restrict oppositions to below par. No wonder old farts like Hafeez and Shoaib Malik managed to hang around into their 40s and play for Pakistan - where are next crop of greenbro batsmen?
