the don Posted October 13, 2022 Posted October 13, 2022 (edited) The reason why i take sena stats is because of the difference in conditions, we have seen india in UAE conditions and also seen the likes of Nasir jamshed become bradman in indian conditions and those small grounds so please dont come here with your non verifiable analysis. the don Posted October 13, 2022 Posted October 13, 2022 Batting in india is a completely different ball game. Nasir jamshed would have havked his way to a 40 plus average and a 150 plus strike rate, no issues. sandeep 1

At least before they used to play well in Asia cup type of tournaments but in pressure situations they suck there too. This is also a fact. You can throw all kinds of stats but the cupboard is bare of any ICC trophies. Rizvan or Babar for that matter have done enough for their team to warrant their spot. If High SR was required they would send someone like a Nawaz, Fakhar or Iftikhar to open. Even in WC SF against Australia last year, they both did their job against Starc, Hazlewood, Cummins etc. They lost due to their bowling and a blinder by Wade who was also dropped by Hasan Ali. Cricket is a TEAM game and not an individual one which is what people like Ankit_sharma03 and Rahul Dravid will never understand. A guy like Tim David, Maxwell etc. even if they have a pathetic average will always be in the team for the impact they provide. Same way guys like Babar/Rizwan for a team like Pak with very unorthodox middle order that can fail at any time need to play the anchor role. I am sure if they are told up your strike rate, they too will play high risk shots and increase their SR but lower their AVG. The fact that KL Rahul has 50+ Avg. and 135+ SR shows how pathetic stat counting is and cherry picking of stats. The guy is STILL fighting for his spot in the team and if he weren't VC would have been dropped already. We all know he is a sitting duck against express pace and swing. I hate this mathematical approach to cricket. Impact is what matters in clutch situations. Matthew Wade showed that in T20 WC against Shaheen who was in red hot form. Even SKY hasn't been able to replicate something like this and he is considered "national treasure" in this board. Mitch Marsh and Maxwell did the same thing against red hot Trent Boult in T20 WC last year. Both guys are hardly in form now and their averages are pathetic last year. But where it matters these guys make an impact - when Rohit and KL Rahul show that in this T20 WC and a guy like SKY can prove this against Pak and SA in do or die situations we can coronate them as kings. Until then they do not deserve the hype. This. Yes babar and rizwan lack intent at times due to an outdated strategy but they do a brilliant job most of the time. Edited October 13, 2022 by the don

Waisay bhi southafrican C team whitewashed india at home earlier. There are no B,C sides in white ball due to the various leagues.

This is some Facebook/YouTube comment section level shizzz Nasir Jamshed scored a couple of ODI hundreds in India a decade ago and that somehow makes current SENA batting conditions "different" in T20is . Wah bc ..Lahori logic looks to be improvising even more

Until then they do not deserve the hype. I won't hype Australia in UAE under lights. Even Daryl Mitchell /Neesham outperformed Buttler in the semi. Power play can only be played by openers not lower order batsman. So the comparison is legit. This also confirms KL Rahul has been selfish with bat. Also confirms Rohit' new approach is very much in line with the requirement. Wade randomy hitting 3 sixes, Brathwhite smashing 4 sixes can happen all the time in a short format like T20. Joginder also delivered a crunch blow lol

No. SENA conditions are flatter for T20 matches. Did you even watch 2019 world cup? Rashid khan smashed for 100 runs in one innings.
vvvslaxman Posted October 13, 2022 Posted October 13, 2022 As someone said Manish pandey is the perfect comparison. Wish we had tried him as opener. He would have accumulated a lot of 50s
vvvslaxman Posted October 13, 2022 Posted October 13, 2022 2 minutes ago, BlueBlood said: It's about impact. Warner's innings in T20 WC final against NZ is as clutch as it gets but his SR was low. Gambhir did the same where it mattered. Rohit and KL have none such innings. I would lump Kohli in this too in the last 3-4 years. But Kohli was a beast under Dhoni 2014-2016 so can at least be excused on this to an extent. SKY also failed when it mattered many times. It's just about handling pressure and playing to the situation. If all you want is PP strike rate then Yusuf Pathan will look like a legend as he did open in a few games. To be fair. ROhit's 30 in 16 balls in the end propelled to a defendable total in the same world T20. India was looking down the barrell after 17 overs scoring only 120 runs. Tony the great finisher got out for 6 in 10 balls. India added 27 runs in the last 2 overs. Rohit scored 24 of them. When you look at the margin of win those 30 runs were very vital. That is as clutch as it gets. sage 1

Jaake Khelo Bazball PP men aur fir let the spin hitters take over

It's been 15 years since and if we have to go all the way back to find something of Rohit then it shows a career that is still resting on that laurels of what he did 15 years ago. Yes in recent times our trimurthis go missing against left arm seamers. That is a given. But this topic is not about that. It is about giving starts in power play. Winning tournament requires far too many things to go our way. India posted reasonably good totals in the Asia cup. But our 19th over specialist gave it on a plater. We can't pin that on our batsmen. For once our batting has been decent. India has trundlers who can't bat or field. 4 useless entities down the order. What can we win with them.

The are saving the faces of your tuk tuk openers.
zen Posted October 13, 2022 Posted October 13, 2022 Appears as of people with limited background in stats and metrics use social media to discuss stats
zen Posted October 13, 2022 Posted October 13, 2022 (edited) An example: Roy SR 126 Rohit SR 148 We know Roy has been in and out of the team. He gets out many times trying to force the scoreboard, which eventually can hurt the SR if the batsman gets out before playing 10-12 balls ... Rohit ofcourse is a known stats padder. If you had to pick one of these two to play at a high SR in the PP, sensible folks would opt for Roy if in form (can be inconsistent). Edited October 13, 2022 by zen

How will they perform against Boult, Starc etc. that too in AUS. I am just saying winning tournament requires your so called best players to play match winning innings eliminating luck out of the equation. They have never done that in recent times. In the case of Rohit Sharma that stat goes back to 2007 - 15 years ago. Shameful to even talk about it. Maintaining high strike rate in power play is a small step in that direction. Dhoni banking some losers forever never allowed us to prosper in this format. Kohli apart from batting never developed core group of middle order. It was top heavy once again. For first time we see no.4 batsman being the best batsman in the side. Playing at low strike won't make them match winners just because coincidentally Gambhir/Warner low strike rate innings helped India win. There were a lot of heroes in that match. In case of Warner, Marsh was the one who did the key damage. There is no real correlation. Match winning knock can come with high strike rate, low strike rate. That is a completely different topic. But if you have openers who always go at 110 SR regardless of the situation it is a recipe for disaster unless you have a terrific bowling unit which we don't have
vvvslaxman Posted October 13, 2022 Posted October 13, 2022 10 minutes ago, BlueBlood said: My point is simple: You need a guy who can score 20+ runs in an over to shut the opposition down completely and lower their morale. Warner has that capability even now at his age. Rahul had it in the past but no longer does when it truly matters due to inability to deal with pressure. Rohit and Kohli unfortunately are too old where they are incapable of achieving against high quality bowling what they were capable of in the past. These are facts. Australia solved this issue for example by bringing in Tim David, Mitch Marsh, Stoinis and Green into the mix which is why even though they might lose bilaterals they are always experimenting and cometh a worldcup they are always the side to beat and favorites. Sri Lanka did the same with their openers playing fearlessly and giving full license to Hasaranga to score quickly. This is NOT the case with our side. If you expect SKY to be this guy - every single opposition is studying how to get him out now. Pandya has weakness against bounce on the offside - someone like Cummins or Rabada will exploit that against him. Again, the power play numbers here are a fake. You can have Kohli score a 100 in 50 balls against Afghanistan and stay not out which will make his average and SR shoot up like crazy masking all his other innings. I am simply looking at RESULTS. They speak louder than stats. Mitch Marsh can bowl and bat, Stoinis can bowl and bat, Green can bowl and bat. How many fast bowling all rounders we have in India. They can fill 5th and 6th bowler quota easily. Having a genuine batsman doing that is a luxury.. India doesn't have that luxury. Cam green clicked only against Indian trundlers. He couldn't handle the pace from Alzaari Joseph. Same way Topley took him out. But his wicket is dispensable because he can bowl. Who do we have like that? Again power play numbers cannot be fake if it aligns with our observation. KL Rahul has been criticized for his selfishness. You could see slightly lower strike rate. Jason Roy has been clueless in recent times. You could see that as well in the chart. Rohit has changed his approach even become a borderline slogger. You could see that being high. Buttler is on the high. So it is not fake just because Babar and Rizwan sucks ball in power play. I most certainly don't want any Indian bat like them. Charts are used mainly to support our already known issues not discover new issues. How many dots, how many singles, how many balls you take before hitting fours. These reflect why certain players are slow in power play. We want to whine about India winning a world cup by hook or crook then we can have a different thread for that. This is about raw stats. Let us talk about that.

That’s why Wade assault on Shaheen in 2021WC is so shocking and hurting them even now. After Pak innings, all felt (on SM) that Pak win was a foregone conclusion. Dubai 6 PM starting matches are just the biggest mismatch in terms of conditions. It is a 170 runs pitch batting first and 210 runs pitch batting second after just a bit of dew. coffee_rules 1
