Odd games are lost here and there by top teams trying out different combinations.  Only wussy teams play full strength against Zimbabwe, SL, BD etc to allow for mediocre players like Imam, Zimbabar etc to stat-pad.

As much as it sounds arrogant, the fact is that India can field 2 XIs at the international level that can be competitive and have a great shot at winning in any format - against any other team.  I thought you ran away after getting schooled on the Rishabh Pant thread, but looks like you're back again to get some more dose. Enjoy!

Well we can but that doesn't mean we'll win everything, our biggest issue is that we don't have enough experience for our "B" side as the likes of RGS, Brat & thigh slapper continue to hog the limelight in useless bilateral series :whack2:

This is why I really think we should field more than one team playing against multiple opponents at the same time, especially LO games against Oz, NZ or Eng.

more than one Ind test team can beat the current Pak test team in SC conditions.

Orthodox (i.e., selectors + TM favoured) XI: Rohit, Kela, Chepu, Brat, Iyer, Pant (wk), Jaddu, Ashwin, Shami, Bumrah, Siraj

Alternate XI: Shaw/Dhull, Jasiwal, Gill, Patidar, Sarfaraz, Sundar, Bharat (wk), Saurabh Kumar, Prasidh, Kuldeep Sen, Umran Malik/Kartik Tyagi/some trundler

Even someone like Jayant Yadav is better than Pak "spinners"

Maybe against top teams but not against Bangladesh, especially when most of our top players are playing. There's no excuse. Our first team batsmen and bowlers are overrated and our bench, especially bowlers, isn't strong enough.

I'm really glad that India lost these close games to Bangladesh - first off,  BD aren't that bad an ODI unit - its their best format, and especially in home conditions.  Secondly, imagine the scenario if the Indian team had managed to sneak the win in one or both of these games - no wake up call before the ODI WC that is so badly needed.  We have seen time and again that the only way the Indian team changes tactics and selection strategy, is if it is forced to do so due to injuries or 'big' losses.

There's nothing that can be done before the World Cup that can magically turn things around from the way they are right now. And nothing major will be done either.
