Hardik Pandya

This is the whiteball  batting top order I want to see for India - win or lose.  2 left handers in the top 6, spin and pace bowling options, and wicket-keeper in the top 5.  A powerful "bat-deep" XI can be constructed for India, literally overnight.  Indian team has an absolute wealth of player resources.  And are wasting them.

  • Gill is not an opener, he's a #3 bat in the Virat mould, and should play in that spot across formats.
  • Ishan and Rishabh are both lefty 'keepers who can bat with power against spin and are most suited to the top order.  Pant will get a longer rope than Ishan because he's put up Godly performances in the test format, and thats OK.
  • Sanju Samson is also a #3 type player - offers less consistency/reliablity than Gill, but also offers more destructive 6 hitting capability.  Case can be made to accommodate both in the XI.
  • Shreyas Iyer has the best temparement among all the 'younger' players, but the weakest game against international quality pace.  Still an automatic selection in ODIs for now, on the bench for T20.  Can also be accommodated in the XI.
  • India 'A' should be constantly auditioning guys like Venkatesh Iyer, Riyan Parag, etc - i.e. Pandya and Sundar alternates.  And not stick them down #7 in the batting, put them smack in the middle around #4 so that when the opportunity comes, they are seasoned.
  • I do not want to see Jadeja anywhere near a white ball Indian team.  Love him for tests, but his career as a white ball allrounder is over now.  Enough.
  • KLPD Rahul's long rope should be shortened and now its time for him to sing for his supper when it comes to Indian team selection.  He's in the same boat as Shreyas Iyer for me as far as selection is concerned - a case-by-case selection, not an automatic one.

Looks like  I am the only one who is not sold on Shaw. Even in the domestics all his express knocks came against village level attacks. As soon as he went up against decent teams he started failing. Seems like a guy who can bully weak attacks in favorable conditions but falls short when has to actually earn his runs.

1. Gill / Ruturaj

2. Kishan / Samson

3. Shaw / Samson

4. Pant / Samson

5. SKY / Shreyas

6. Washington / Shahbaz

7. Hardik / Bawa

8. Mohsin / Hangargekar

9. Kuldeep Y / Bishnoi

10. Bumrah / Siraj / Prasidh

11. Umran / Sen / Tyagi

....  I want to try Shaw at 3 because the ball would move less then and his weakness against indippers would not be exposed as much.

....  Alternate right handers and left janders till 8

....  Very high SR batters from 2 to 5 and at 7.

.... Washington would be there to protect the team from batting collapse, if any, at 6 or 5.

....  6 bowling options

....  4 proper quicks + 1 wrist spinner + 1 finger spinner ....  No dibbly dobbly pacers.

....  Mohsin and Bumrah will bowl upfront .... Umran and Hardik in the middle .... Bumrah and Mohsin at the death

.... One pacer with raw pace at 11

Shaw,Venkatesh Iyer,Samson,Kishan,Tewatia,Sen,Bishnoi,Mohsin,Patidar,Sarfaraz should have been the part of team by now.

I always thought.the selectors selects such players ,who can be easily thrown out of the team when the seniors returns after a vacation.
