SRT100 Posted December 30, 2022 Posted December 30, 2022 (edited) Naturally I am biased as I really want to see the game played at the MCG, however I do respect that my brothers in India and on here (ICF posters) may think differently. I would accept that most Indians, BCCI would not want this to happen. Its easy for me to say I would love it, because I am so far removed and immune to the issues between India and Pakistan. What I struggle to understand though, is that its accepted that they can play WC and Asia Cup matches at neutral venues but not a Test series in Australia? https://www.espncricinfo.com/story/mcc-and-victoria-government-inquire-about-hosting-india-pakistan-test-at-the-mcg-1351523 The Melbourne Cricket Club, who manage the MCG, and the Victorian government have made informal inquiries to Cricket Australia about hosting a Test match between India and Pakistan in Melbourne after the success of the classic T20 World Cup encounter played between the two sides in October. @raki05@express bowling@Vijy@IndianRenegade Edited December 30, 2022 by SRT100
singhprakash72 Posted December 30, 2022 Posted December 30, 2022 keeping emotions aside this is realistically not possible... the relationship between the two govts is all time low. Barrage of insults hurled recently is only going to make it harder for them to play even multi-nation tournament forget about the bilateral match.

Don't think we should give them a cent to play against us If it were sanctioned.

I can accept that Pak is a good T20 team and a decent ODI team, but in tests they are not close to india, even though we (india) keep making selection blunder after blunder. nevada 1

Then again, great opportunity to destroy them. Dont worry, Im sure we would end up getting Ishant and Rahane back into the team. Hell they may bring back Dhoni for the test match for his army expertise.

Which Im totally fine if thats the case. So we can play Pakistan in WC tournaments and Asia Cup is fine? What if we were to play Pakistan in a WTC Final? Do we not play?

A WTC final, Asia Cup or WC tournament game ( KO or otherwise) not played will hurt our chances. We dont want to hurt ourselves. So we should play them in such games. No Bilateral games SRT100 1

zen Posted December 30, 2022 Posted December 30, 2022 (edited) For such bilaterals, isn’t BCCI required to get permission from GOI? Or have things changed? If GOI still decides on these type of bilaterals, such discussions are nothing more than timepass. Edited December 30, 2022 by zen

If we skip a match in a tournament, then we will be punishing ourselves by losing key points. The purpose won't be served. If we have to play Pakistan in a WTC Final in a neutral country then we are likely to play because of the above reason. But a bilatersl test match / series is similar to a bilateral LOI series. AuxiliA Posted December 30, 2022 Posted December 30, 2022 As much as I would have loved us trashing their test team, we shouldn't have any relationship with an extremely belligerent country which misses no opportunity to hurt us. Take a stand for country's sake! Sgattick10 and express bowling 2
