LordPrabhzy
I think it should be completely demolished and a new one created on the same site. vvvslaxman 1 Link to comment

Because it totally disappeared when India was batting, no? Yes , grabbed during Aus collapse. Maybe a roller helped India. Plus our batsmen used leg glance instead of sweep. Sweep is a high-risk low-percentage shot. Always seen batsmen getting out on sweep Link to comment

This is not true is it? Delhi stadium looks crap. People sharing pictures of crappy facilities even now. This stadium doesn't deserve his name. This is just politicians using their power to name after theiry party reps. It was actually renamed by Rajat Sharma (the TV host of Aapki Adalat), who was a close aide of Jaitley after Jaitley passed away. It is not without precedent. Hyderabad stadium is named after Rajiv Gandhi and Mumbai's stadium is named after SK Wankhede, also a politician. Link to comment

Cricket stadiums taking name of politicians is cringeworthy. Name needs to have some sort of history like Brabourne stadium. This random choice of politician names who have zero connection with history of the ground should be avoided. Link to comment
vvvslaxman
YOu can just have generic names like Eden Gardens, Green park, Greenfield international or some history based names. Link to comment
zen
A culture of short cuts and a fear of failure is highlighted in how India plays its cricket too. For e.g., see the traffic sense in India where people want to get ahead by hook or crook, ignoring traffic rules and without being considerate of others on the road (and of course, those driving in such a way will have an excuse to justify their behaviour). Shortcuts, fear, excuses, …. Now if someone says why India does well in cricket and not in soccer, a potential answer can be “pitch”! Link to comment

Same with Modi... the new Ahmedabad stadium could still have been called Motera Link to comment
