VC isn't about learning but required to do the job if captain isnt there

 

He can learn without being VC

 

Dhoni wasn't VC before he became captain IIRC.

Iyer and Gill - Captain and Vice captain. Those are the only guys who can can claim Test and ODI spots at this time and are not old. This is not now but long term. To make it happen, get these guys in the team now and play them consistently. Enough non performing top order players to drop instead of these two.

 

I am not sure what happens to Pant after injury.

Iyer seems  to be natural  captain but his batting at overseas conditions  questionable . 
 

Bumrah got a great mind but not fit . 
 

Pant seems good captain but not fit . 
 

Prithvi Shaw or  Sanju Samson can be good captain . They both have captaincy experience . They both are capable of place in current squad .

not really. rahane was just as poor as chepu and had a luxury of batting in the somewhat easier no. 5

Not only fast bowlers but also backs  talented batsmen and spinners like Gill, Sarfraz Khan , Sanju Sampson,  Bhisnoi and Kuldeep Yadav . Not  timid to pace out non  performing seniors .

and backs aggressive bats who score at high SR even in tests. pitches have changed world over. more often than not, people will not last 60+ balls, so it's important to maximize output. likes of Gill, Sarfaraz, Iyer (in SC), Pant, etc. can score swiftly
