vvvslaxman
Rohit is always a stop-gap arrangement as age/fitness is not on his side. So India needs to identify somenoe who can do this. At this point all the available choices are either old like Rohit (Ashwin/Jadeja) or unsuitable(Bumrah/Rahul) or unestablished (Iyer/Gill) or unavailable (Pant). If Pant comes back we will have a viable long term choice. But with ROhit missing due to injuries frequently he himself needs a solid back up. Who would be the best choice? Link to comment

Who would be the best choice? for LOIs, it is clear selectors (for better or worse) have anointed pandu H. for tests, I imagine it would be iyer or pant Link to comment
zen
I won't be surprised if Sir Don Pandya, who can play both in India & away, comes back to captain the test side if/when he decides to play tests. Edited February 22, 2023 by zen Adamant, sage and ungboysj 3 Link to comment

helperononline
My first choice is Gill but he is too young to take on such a huge responsibility so I would prefer a bowler as Captain and that would be Bumrah Link to comment

He looked running out of ideas very fast 2) Not fit enough to play in all the Tests without missing. 3) He is likely to take breaks in between the match Both CUmmins/Southee were found wanting in this regard. raki05 and Vijy 2 Link to comment

LordPrabhzy
LOL people are throwing captaincy candidates of players that are inconsistently picked and never given a fair run in the 'right format'. Gill/Pant for me is the future Captain/Vice combo... dont care about LOIs.. pandya can do his nautanki there raki05 1 Link to comment
BacktoCricaddict
It's Sharma for the foreseeable future in tests. Too early to really tell. We can only hope Pant can come back strong and play Pant-ball in tests again. If he does that, he is the dude. Gill seems like a calm, collected, confident guy, but until he gets a consistent run, how will anyone know what he is made of? T20s - Pandya for sure ODIs - Shreyas Iyer seems to be the best bet here. Edited February 22, 2023 by BacktoCricaddict raki05 1 Link to comment
