Majestic Posted March 10, 2023 Posted March 10, 2023 (edited) Inspite of lack of success overseas in SENA, in last 12 years, India's most vital player in test cricket has been Ashwin. My order would be : Ashwin Kohli Jadeja Pujara Shami Bumrah Pant Rohit Others( Ishant, Rahane, Vijay, Umesh, Dhawan, KLR, Mayank etc) Rohit in last two years has made huge strides. He has been the best Indian batter in 2021 home series vs England, 2021 away series vs England and 2022 home series vs Australia. All three important series and he played only these three. Had he played the SA away series, he might have become India's best batter and we might have won that series too. Edited March 10, 2023 by Majestic
Nikhil_cric Posted March 11, 2023 Posted March 11, 2023 He made an interesting comment about Cameron Green. Called him a once in a generation talent. But also clarified that Green is lucky to be playing for Australia as they protect their elite talents whereas in India, it is perform or perish. At the domestic level, this is definitely hampering India's development of bowlers specifically and I don't see this changing anytime soon.

He is possibly the only current player who keeps the focus on performing domestic players who is not given a fair run. He is true. IPL has become faster way of getting selected for all the formats not just T20. Any slogging in domestic means very little. There was a time Irani Trophy was considered gold standard for picking national side. Not the case anymore. Jaiswal in any other era would have already been playing for India.

His first two wkts of the top 6 batsmen were relatively lucky where Head mistimed a shot and Green played a loose stroke to glove a catch on the leg side. At that point, Aus was already 378/5. Then Ashwin picked up Carey, Starc, Lyon, & Murphy (to become more or less a stats padding exercise). What an analysis, deep diving into each and every dismissal. And this is coming from a guy who counts no balls and wides in Pandya's run tally. You have shown your aukaad here, yet again. Lord, raki05 and vvvslaxman 3
ash Posted March 12, 2023 Posted March 12, 2023 This test match and pitch has truly shown the skill of Ashwin compared to other bowlers. Excellent control raki05 and Adamant 2
