People keeping talking as if Gabba test win was a normal win and could be repeated on regular basis.

It was pure anomaly, What happened in Sydney and Gabba on that tour don't happen every day.

It wasn't a fluke though. Main reasons were youngsters looking to prove themselves and Rahane's captaincy.

We still continue to back oldies :wall:

I didn't say it was fluke. It was a perfect timing. Long Sydney draw and then great 4th innings chase.Pujara was backbone for the series win.

What happened to the youngster Siraj  he is playing here, So is Gill.

Siraj has been our best bowler here.  Can't do everything himself.

Gill is our biggest hope in batting ahead of Rohit,Kohli,Pujara,Rahane

Why can't he pick more than one wicket on green wicket? We will see what Gill does also soon.

Because you need support to maintain pressure. Pitch has flattened too. Hes still bowling bouncers to Head but field is not set properly.

1-2 youngsters can't offset many oldies non performance.

Lets stop shielding them and attacking youngsters

Why can't that guy you sleep with produce more than one wicket in India when he toured? He ran away mid tour too.

The other one averages 55 in India.

Green pitch means f all. You need support.

Oldies are all batsmen, they have not even had a chance to play. You expect them to win the match after the bowlers concede 600 plus.

Only debatable decision among bowlers is Umesh vs Ashwin.

So you are keeping benchmark for youngster so uigh that they need to perform in each and every test, wheras oldies who are sucking up since last 3 years and in case of hahane and gujara even longer than that should get free pass.

I never said  older players should get free pass.

But to expect them to score 600 is unrealistic.

2 Gabba hero bowlers are playing, the others are injured , no one complained about bowling selections till yesterday other than having to fit Ashwin into the team.

how are oldies a problem in this match when bowling is laying eggs .

You know this TM never introduced an youngster unless dire situations. The only time bulk of youngsters were introduced during last aus tour due to seniors unavailable and injured. Siraj was only picked coz bumrah, shami were out, sundar was picked coz jaddu and ash got injured before to that they were only warming benches. Even before this series they had opportunity to pick youngsters but knowing dravid and rohit and tm before this you already know they will never take hard step to give chance to a young bowler or batter by their own will. If you keep picking Oldies like Umesh and backup like unadkat and Mukesh how do you expect to win. Umesh was never good in overseas , Shami is already too old and and backups are also old malnourished trundlers, a young fast bowler would have atleast novelty like natrajan provided during aus tour. If we keep serving same old failures series after series opposition moral will be already too high even before start of the match, that is exactly what is happening.

Umesh's avg 23 in England and he took 6 wickets last time he played on this ground and was vital in India winning the match. So his selection was not a mistake.

So did we realize Shami is old yesterday. Till yesterday he was leader of the bowling attack by all experts. He was  part of combined Australia and Indian team by everyone.

I am not talking about Dravid and TM, I was never in favour making Dravid the coach.I always thought Shastri was a better coach than Dravid.Kohli better captain than Rohit.

There was no young fast bowler who stood out even in IPL, what do you want selectors to do?

Too many noobs going around on ICF

i know right lol. our players are well past their prime. unlike us, oz promote youth quicker cause there is no start culture.

clueless management wont blood youngsters in due to marketing reasons unless they had a great IPl which really should have no bearing on how you perform in tests.

that is the problem. they need to be decrepit and old. they will never push them out. its so sad.

thats now how its supposed to work.

reminds me of my team ac milan.

we did that for years. play players well past sell date and then we fell off.

lucky for us we are back somewhat now.

most of our battles were close when we we were both in our primes. now our batsmen and a couple of bowlers are on last legs. they are obviously little younger, yet we still continue to play the same old guard.
