As usual West Zone is full of trundle army, South Zone has solitary decent pacer in Kaverappa..East Zone has Akashdeep who is quick and Porel is bouncy. MuraSingh is a veteran so that might help them as well.

Sportstar understands that the West Zone selection committee, consisting of selection committee chiefs of all the five teams in the West Zone jurisdiction, was informed to not consider Rohit Sharma, Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane, Ravindra Jadeja, Jaydev Unadkat and Suryakumar Yadav - all of whom are set to be in India’s tour of West Indies that clashes with the tournament.

 

As a result, besides Panchal, the squad also includes prolific openers Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Harvik Desai and Prithvi Shaw.

Bharat is selected in South Zone ,so he is out of Windies  tour

The Duleep Trophy 2023 starts from June 28 with all matches slated to take place in Bengaluru. The final will be held at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium from July 12-16.

 

The Duleep Trophy will retain its zonal format where the tournament begins with a quarterfinal bracket. The finalists of the 2022-23 season - West Zone and South Zone - will directly receive a semifinal berth. Meanwhile, Central Zone, North Zone, the North East Zone and East Zone will clash in the quarterfinal matches

 

All matches  will be four-day contests.The finally will be 5 days

Yudhvir Singh as all rounder (unlikely tho) 

 

Prabhsimran as a wk batter.  Nitish Rana would be captain most likely.

Tyagi-Has only played 2  FC and 12 List A matches so far

For pragmatic BCCI it is as good as nothing

Pujara is not an opener, so, Jaiswal is not in direct competition with Pujara at all. Jaiswal can be picked only in place of Gill or Rohit.
