Or maybe even in equity mutual funds? If yes, what were your experiences? Would like to hear from you guys.

Very generic question. Can you be more specific ?

Was a MF (Mutual Fund Bhai! Guy earlier. Dabbling in stocks in last couple of years, making about 15-20 % only so far. Using some very basic algorithms, watching news/ticker  of stock companies almost once in couple of weeks, but want to spend more time. Pick of stocks using the fair value of stock, not for current price and mostly looking for long term investment only. Don’t want to be a day trader or short term gains. Almost doing it so can do some small talk in social gatherings. Otherwise, I was like what is EPS?

I'd rather invest in startups than play this rigged game :bandit:

Not that the other space isn't rigged but the manipulation over there is kinda uncontrollable!

Have you invested in a start up ? If you have, that makes your statement more intriguing.

Where to start?

Start watching youtube videos, read some good books. Never, ever under any circumstances go into trading or future & options. But shares of good companies, and hold them for a long time.

If you are new

1. Don't touch fno even with a ten foot pole

2. Most mutual funds can't beat index due to expense ratios...so etfs are the best goldbees niftybees bankbees etc , index funds come second.

3. do sip investment or invest during 10-20% correction from top

4. When the market is really really down in the dumps, invest in small cap mutual funds for outsized returns

5. Invest for long term...

Can you please elaborate how you started (in stocks) and what things you look for while choosing stocks?

Tradingview for charts, screener.in for company specific numbers...i haven't read books but seen many YouTube vids on investing...gareth soloway, benjamin cowen are good ones for technical plus fundamental analysis of US markets and crypto markets...
