Didn't watch the game but 2-0 doesn't seem too bad I guess. Anyways had no hope from this setup, was doomed from the start. Hope we learnt something from this, at least for AIFF's sake

Number Posted September 29, 2023 Posted September 29, 2023 Another gold in shooting. We move to no. 4 after PRC, Japan and South Korea. deepdynamo and randomGuy 2
bharathh Posted September 29, 2023 Posted September 29, 2023 Lots of medals in the offing today. Gold and silver from shooting so far. India's best ever performance in Shooting (15 medals) at the Asian Games (surpassing 2006 Doha) with a few more possibilities for medals. Badminton women's team looking down and out vs Thailand. PV Sindhu is in abysmal form. Goes down to a Thai nobody. Doubles team is already one set down. Men's doubles team also look outclassed in the final. Silver most likely from them unless they can make a comeback from 1 set down. Our athletes start with 2 fifth place finishes in walking in both men and women's categories. deepdynamo and randomGuy 2
bharathh Posted September 29, 2023 Posted September 29, 2023 Aditi Ashok tied for second place (one stroke behind the leader) in Golf halfway through the second round and the Indian women's team is currently in 3rd place. Surprising how she is unable to make an impact in the LPGA. Hope she goes from strength to strength soon. Gollum and deepdynamo 2
bharathh Posted September 29, 2023 Posted September 29, 2023 In squash the women's team faces Hong Kong in the semi-finals shortly. Hopefully, we make the finals.
bharathh Posted September 29, 2023 Posted September 29, 2023 Not great for racket sports so far today. Women look outclassed by Hong Kong. Already 1 game down and losing badly in the second as well. Women's badminton team was thrashed by Thailand. Men's doubles goes down tamely in straight sets. Still they get a silver. Mixed doubles team playing for a place in the semi-final shortly. Hopefully, they get into the finals as well. Bopanna ought to go out with at least a gold. deepdynamo 1
bharathh Posted September 29, 2023 Posted September 29, 2023 Anirban Lahiri starts the day by going to tied second spot in men's golf. The mens' team in 5th place (3 strokes behind top spot).
deepdynamo Posted September 29, 2023 Posted September 29, 2023 Shooters on fire today... 2 Gold and 1 Silver so far... And one more event to go with two Indians hot favorite to clinch GOLD. randomGuy 1

bharathh Posted September 29, 2023 Posted September 29, 2023 2 Gold 2 Silver ... The women have really brought it this time. deepdynamo 1
bharathh Posted September 29, 2023 Posted September 29, 2023 Joshana Chinappa makes it 1 1 with a super win from behind. Now down to 15 yr old Anahat to make the finals deepdynamo and randomGuy 1 1

Anahat goes down in a close first game. 5-5 in the second. She looks quality. In a couple years should be really strong. randomGuy 1

Gollum Posted September 29, 2023 Author Posted September 29, 2023 Our tennis has declined a lot, and the East Asians have levelled up. Even 15-20 years ago we used to (almost) sweep the tennis events including singles.

The East Asian quality is really average tbh. Women's badminton is in a state of emergency as well. Sindhu has declined a lot and noone is there to step into her shoes. Men's badminton has improved a lot!
Lone Wolf Posted September 29, 2023 Posted September 29, 2023 Bhikharis opened their account finally.... That too when Gold & Silver were won by Indians rollingstoned 1
bharathh Posted September 29, 2023 Posted September 29, 2023 Squash Anahat not good enough for her opponent. Still she fought hard. Credit to her. Bronze for India in the team event. Hopefully the men win gold
