zen
Finals of World Cups in subcon Base: Aus v Eng 1987 1: Aus v SL 1996 - The winner of the previous final makes it to the next final 2. Ind v SL 2011 - The winner of the previous final makes it to the next final 3. ? 2023 - will this pattern form? It needs 3 touch points to form a pattern but anyways, as usual, you heard it first here! Real McCoy and Lord 1 1 Link to comment

zen
To win, Ind needs to beat another key trend as well - it has never won a world cup when Pak has not made it to the KOs: 1983 - Pak lost to WI in SF 2007 - Ind beat Pak in F 2011 - Ind beat Pak in SF Additionally, in the 1985 MCC World Series in Australia, Ind beat Pak in the F. zen
Apart from watching an over here and there, I followed the WC through scorecards. Despite doing well in the group stage, there were various clues/patterns (some of them are listed here) that told me that India would not win the tournament. The team was creating an illusion that would eventually crash in the KOs. PS one additional pattern as a bonus: Ind does not win a World Cup when someone in the top order (#1-3) is the captain. If we talk about the 1985 world series (not a world cup but a key world tournament esp. at that point in time), Gavaskar, who was the captain, batted in the middle order with Srikant-Shastri opening and Azhar batting at #3. One of the reasons, I was hoping that Hardik Pandya would somehow take over the captaincy. Link to comment
