The scheduling of cricket calendar these days just makes me sad..

World Cup ends on November 19th and South Africa tour begins on December 10th.

There used to be a time when the gap between a World Cup and the following bilateral cricket series was at least 2 months. For 2 months no cricket, in this span of time both fans and players reflect on the tournament that just ended and recollect all the experiences. Nowadays, there's so much cricket played that experiences that were initially of a high value are now just passing moments, there's way too much professionalism.

I'm actually looking forward to our test series in South Africa more than the upcoming World Cup.

Dafaq?? Talk about destroying whatever soul is left in the game..

This is why bcci itself should be wary of ideas like 2 ipls in a year that last several months. Too much cricket haa resulted in the game itself becoming devalued. We didn't have any ideas like discounting bilateral series even 10-15 yrs back because it all mattered.

WTC should be scrapped. It's a pointless, meaningless thing in the calendar and Test series should only be planned bilaterally and only for boards who can profit and only when there are windows available.

If the ODI World Cup has to continue , then a structured ODI super league has to start .  Reduce World Cup from 10 to 8 teams.

Top 8 teams in the World Cup can play the league . Top 6 qualify and bottom 2 compete in qualifiers along with teams from a 'B' ODI super league(another 8 teams with ZIM and WI) . Winner and runner up joins top 6 for next 50 overs World Cup.

Play only T20 leagues

Play World T20 once in 4 years - Have qualifiers and expand to 32 teams (8 groups and then knockouts)

It's the only way to sustain 3 formats .

Very few boards even want to play Tests .

ODIs have to become the new Tests. Expanding it is tough. Too long and it still requires long format skills that even AFG, Ireland etc have failed to acquire those skills and bridge the gap. Newer teams have no chance.

It peaked in 1999 when top 8 teams could all compete with each other and Zimbabwe , as a 9th side, offered real threat.

It's been downhill since then with Windies decline , then SL decline and BD are just making up the numbers.

Only top 6 sides have any hope even in this World Cup and it's been the case from 2015 onwards.

How many sports even have more than 6 strong teams. Soccer and..? Does rugby have six strong teams? Even in nba, its two or three teams that we hear about all the time

Those sports don't have 3 formats with 1 lasting 5 days without a guarantee of a result and the other lasting nearly 8 hours

And the rugby World Cup still has at least 20 sides playing .

A 50 over World Cup with 20 teams would be absolutely pointless because

1. It  would be near impossible for the minnows to beat top side

2. There would be absolutely no interest in the tournament apart from when the top teams play and thst too when they play each other.
