Likely, cannot remember Tripura beating Mumbai in any format before. Many heartwarming performances in that match. Sudip Chatterjee top-scored with 60 off 78. He had some very good Ranji seasons with Bengal, before he lost form and his way somewhat. Had he not been Bengali, he likely would have got some chances for the national team. Manisankar Murasingh (the North East's Richard Hadlee), scored 55 off 26 and then followed up with 4 wickets. Unfortunately, he is not only North Eastern (in Hindi-Belt terms, a "Chinese"), but also has a Bengali-sounding name on top (see Sudip Chatterjee's case), so it is not likely he will ever play for the national team either.

Let's not create a controversy out of nowhere..it's unfortunate that Murasingh was continuously overlooked by the BCCI, but part of blame lies with the East Zone selectors as well who hardly put his name forward.

Secondly, most of the selections in international cricket is based out of IPL as parameter. Since Murasingh don't play for any IPL team, its rare to breakin to Indian Cricket team unless he has a very strong backing from the state lobby...which he unfortunately never got. Sarfaraz Khan & Abhimanyu Easwaran has always gotten a raw deal from selectors for some reason, Bishnoi despite doing exceptionally well is always treated as a second tier bowler. It's because they don't have strong lobby behind them.

There is no such thing as a bengali name, most bengalis are muslims.

Also the bengal team is full of players from north and west states,as local players with "bengali' names are not up to the mark.

Stop throwing tantrums like a little bengali and grow up.

Shouldn't mean anything for national selection. He had his chance and blew it.

To be fair, he was used as a no 6/7 batter...that's not his natural position...even for LSG he used to bat at no 3 where he found success, while SRH used him as no 6/7 finisher and he failed at that position.

Not saying that he should be drafted now, but it shows how messed up our selections has been, we go by IPL stats and select a team without looking at the roles they are capable of playing.
