Would say top footballing nations in the top 10 would all excel in cricket if they utilise their reosurc3s well.

India would still.be top 3 though.

I do feel nedtherlands would be a top side. Top 4 /5. They have natural talent for fast bowling.

Some African countries if it weren't for corruption would excel like Nigeria and Ghana. They have the athleticism athleticism compete with the top boys

It does not even qualify for FIFA.

Think Pak will win their 2nd T20 WC before us. We may win WTC, WC, CT at some point but it will be decades before we even dream about winning in T20, we have no clue about the format.

We are the dumbest SOBs in sport. No doubt about it. Cricket or hockey. Or any sport

We just have zero

 I mean zero sporting IQ.

Indians may be good at education rote learning style and probably perform well overall in most things related to maths science IT etc but in sports we have zero brains. Cause if we did have sport IQ we would have won tournaments by now. Even in hockey and plenty other sports.

Forget about physicality

We have players with good physicality but most lack brain cells.

I think same with China. They were meant to regularly appear at the business end of the world cups in football. Failed to even qualify.

African nations in football were meant to win the football wc based on 1990 and 1994. It never happened. Barely reach the semis.

The truth is its very hard to break into the core of any world sport. Rugby world has a 5 team core. Aus Nz Sa England and France. Nobody has broken through for decades.

Football has a 12 team core.

Rugby 5 to 6 team core

Cricket has a 5 to 6 team core

Hockey has a 5 to 6 team core but is probably the most fluid of all the major world sports. Likes of Belgium were not strong in the 90s. Only Germany Aus and Netherlands have been relative constants for the last 30 years.

If USA applies its mind to be really good at cricket, within 20 years they can make ATG WI/Aus look like modern Bangladesh team, guarantee. In terms of sporting culture (and genetic advantage),  they are better than most developed countries....comparable to Australia or perhaps Germany/NZ....but with almost 20 times the population of Aus. Now add in the fact that they are a technological superpower and will incorporate science into sports unlike any other country (like they did with design of their swimsuits which later on led to its ban)....they will bring revolutionary changes in cricket training, diet, recovery, data analytics etc. Then there is the immigration thing and nobody attracts top tier talent like USA....heck in chess their top 4 players have been poached from Italy (Caruana), Philippines (So), Armenia (Aronian), Dominguez (Cuba) and they poached them after those national feds had developed them for 20-30 years....such is the lure for Uncle Sam...ironically their 5th best chess player Hikaru Nakamura was born in Osaka (Japan) but to be fair, the US federation groomed him to become the player he is today. No reason why they can't do the same in cricket in a manner beyond Eng or NZ's wildest imagination. All the best cricket coaches, fitness trainers, pitch curators etc will flock to USA....

I mean in chess, nobody associates USA with it....but even if you forget this generation of poached players, USA still produced two GOAT contenders in Morphy and Fischer, then Rueben Fine, Reshevsky and so many other greats especially Jewish ones from NYC !!!!! When the gauntlet was thrown at them at the peak of cold war they produced Bobby Fischer and beat the Soviets in ice hockey to get an Olympic gold (Miracle on Ice). I mean come on we are talking about the greatest country in the history of planet Earth.....and to those delusional folks thinking India will be top 3 even if other western nations take it seriously, just wake up to reality guys. If cricket has 50% of the global popularity as football, higher chance that Indian cricket team will match Indian football team ranking/status than being anywhere close to top 20 (top 3 lmao)....apni aukaat samjho aur chup chaap baitho. If USA wakes up and chooses cricket like they do with NFL now, every college there will have a player like Kohli or Bumrah. It is a mercy to the rest of the world that Olympics has strict national quotas, otherwise even China will kiss USA's rear, I'll go a step further and add that remove country quota but allow just NCAA participation, USA will top the table, you folks don't realize the might of that country, think Australia but 100 times scarier because of other factors.

20 years? They wouldn't take that long.

Just look at the athletic ability at college Football and Basketball levels. There are literally 10s of thousands of athletes who don't make pro sports but would make most Cricketers look like clowns.

Wouldn't put francw in top 5 for rugby.

Aus is **** in rugby since 2010. It's a myth they are good in rugby union. They always lose to nz; SA and barely scraped by England

T20 is a fluke format. We can't predict anything this far out..we might even win next year under SKY's captaincy when noone expects us to..it's that unpredictable.

So to "predict" Pak to have more T20 success than India is just illogical when you consider their usual T20 batting quality and approach.

I won't call it fluke, sure uncertainty is higher compared to ODIs/tests but we are yet to understand the format, have wrong personnel, tactics. Other teams come in to T20 WCs with in form players, we have been playing Jadeja since 2009 (cruelest joke ever)....when we are so dumb we shouldn't really talk about luck, fault lies within.

I agree with these points but still it doesn't have anything to explain why Pak would have more success than us in T20s. May be Australia, England and somewhat South Africa will most likely take advantage of our dumbness and win some more T20 WCs. May be not....but Pakistan? Seriously?

We complain (rightfully) about Jadeja playing since 2009 but the entire Pakistani T20 batting mindset is dog ßhit since 2006 or whenever the format was started.

A grand total of 8 countries have won the football world cup. 6 have won the cricket world cup and 4 have won the rugby world cup. The core in all these sports remains largely the same so underplaying performance in cricket by saying it is only played by a few countries is a weak argument.

One of the biggest issue is the mentality to always go by the book. Such a shame that such big pool of players and nobody comes up with slightly unorthodox approaches to either batting or bowling or fielding.

Every country has their own share of inventions like Pakistanis invented Doosra and reverse swing, England came up with Bazball, SL - slinging actions, Australia - express bodyline bowling even SA revolutionised fielding techniques.

Something tells me that China would have produced such insane spin talent that would have made Murali look like Nathan Lyon.

If China came up with prodigious turners of the ball, Japan would have produced medium-fast swing bowlers of the highest quality possible. Japanese swing bowlers could have made Hadlee look like a decent bowler.

I can also visualize Mexicans playing an extremely unorthodox brand of cricket, pissing off purists.

You may have a point but please don't insult Lyon. With modern rules Murali wouldn't have been superior to Lyon, chucking stats are misleading, same with Harbhajan, Ajmal, Hafeez.

I swear, if the Chinese took cricket seriously, they would research the fu<k out on everything about spin bowling and eventually find a way to get the ball to turn square on a road.

Edit: The Chinese would show admiration for the art of spin bowling due to having a refined intellectual taste by inventing GO and Mah Jong.

Americans would never take spin seriously and consider it a sissy skill. They would develop such lethal fast bowlers that would terrorize batsmen on roads.

Pak came quite close in last 2 T20 WC...  Probably should have won Dubai one but Aussies with some luck & unreal alien capabilities denied them.  Final was a walkover for both with hapless Kiwis waiting to be slaughtered.

Just saw Zaman Khan playing BBL...  These Tapiyas will get good T20 skills with time.  Far more exposure than our young guys.

BCCI's greed to not even allow young players to play in Foreign conditions is to blame for T20 drought

No they won't win anything. We want Kohli with a S/R of 138 and 52 Avg replaced in the T20s and these guys think Babar and Rizwan with sub 120 Strike rates are one of the best T20 batsmen in the world. With that kind of a batting they will not win anything. And  these players open the batting and consume most of the deliveries when it is easiest time to bat during the powerplay.

KO's are usually low scoring...  On those dodgy slow WIndies tracks players with 130-135 S/R will do well.

Most Poyzz bowlers are superb 4 over bowlers to defend par scores
