Jaiswal also does not have great foot work. back and across foot work has totally gone out of the game.

As long as he has balance he should be fine, his back lift and angled bat will always present a problem when there is sideways movement.

Jaiswal doesn't hang the bat too much infront of him. He plays the ball reasonably close to the body. That is why he doesn't get out to loose shots like Gill.

I am still not sold on him. He is repeatedly plonking the frontfoot while meeting the ball. Lucky for him ball didn't move. Moment it moves same ball will trap him infront.

He's mostly late for movement not deliberately late to negate swing:wp23:

Yes he has 2-3 glaring issues, most teams have already chalked out plans for him

He needs to address those quickly

I don't think he will, because he knows that his place is guaranteed. BCCI has already anointed him as next "superstar"

What was he doing in first morning then.

Baat was still close to his bat. But movement caught the edge. It was nothing like how Gill gets dismissed regularly.

It is growing process for any batsman, Gill had decent start in his career but he hit a bump , let us see if last two tests kick start his career. I am hoping it will let us see what he doesin next two tests.

He has to readjust his trigger movementboth against pace and spin. 1/3 of his dismissals are either bowler or lbw in Tests. If we strictly talk about right handers it is even more concerning. He should work on his game against guys like Shami in the nets. There is no one better than Shamin that can exploit his weakness.

For batsman it is always about overcoming the weakness to score runs.He looks like he is decent kid who is hungry to improve.

He's late even against medium pace at anything which is not short

Actually he looked better at under-19 level. It seems like he has picked up some bad habits along the way. At under-19 level he made last minute adjustments. Now he is unable to do as he first plonks the frontfoot and decides what to do with the ball. So any deviation or turn he finds himself in no man's land.

In U19 He was playing close to the body and along the ground, but in T20 and IPLs he found his technique would not work at no. 3 and down so they pushed him up in the openers slot and then he still lacked the power and to compensate he started using his feet like McCullum (McCullum had great bat-swing and was able to make late adjustments.)use to and then to generate power he stared playing away from the body -planting front foot way to early, which served him in flat tracks but where there is some assistance for the bowlers he is unable to adjust and hence in-consistentcy.

With that technique , he was unable to generate power so he had to change to get the power game going. While doing he has picked up bad habbits. Can he get back is the question.Next two tests will give some answers.

yes, he was more complete in U19 with less power. now he is a plonker
