all 3 Indian teams will undergo radical changes in the coming months including the Test team,not sure even Jaddu and Ashwin will last much longer and we need to blood new spinners.the task seems very daunting to the new coach.

My sense is that the talent is lurking. Youngsters just need to be given a chance, backed, given clear roles, and challenged to do their best for the team. It takes some competent coaching and selfless captaincy.

 

And laugh at me for saying this, but I really think we need a captain like Rahane. His batting woes aside, every time he led a young team, the players showed up. No frills, no rah-rah BS, no power-games, just genuineness. Of the current lot, I think Pant can provide that. Maybe Jaiswal, too.

True. But he will immediately command the respect of the players due to his accomplishments in the international cricketing arena (unfortunately, that seems like a pre-requisite for a domestic coach to be respected by the players).

 

Also, if I am correct in my assessment, his success was not due to sheer gifted-ness, but more due to a hard-nosed grit and "khunnas."

 

He left everything on the field. I am actually quite excited for this choice - if it pans out.

If the captain is young and calm, that combination can work with Gambhir. Assuming Jasiwal / Gill / Ruturaj might be the captain in the next 4-5 years, Gambhir might not be a bad option.. I doubt that he will get along with Pant if he is made captain though..

 

The last time we had a task master coach, we had a belligerent, strong-headed captain in Virat. So, that combo failed

Why only foreign Aussie coach ? Gambhir won't work well with guys like Kohli, Rohit and Jadeja.  Get rid of them and then, maybe, he will be able to get something out of this team .

if we get rid of them, most options would work. Star power is biggest thing hindering coaches

Coaches don't win matches, captains and teams win.No need to have a guy like Kumble who thought he was bigger than the team.Gambhir falls in same category.
