Kuldeep Yadav is my choice. I am a huge fan of Rinku Singh, but I can see how Dube and Pandya add more balance to the lower MO.

But, Kuldeep Yadav is a must. He is a proven, repeated match-winner who is in excellent form. He is not a total dud with the bat either. So, I can easily see him adding much more value than Jadeja or Axar Patel.  Hope TM is saving him for the Caribbean leg of this tournament against the big boys.

It should be a check box with more than one option to select. These are some of the selection failures...

1. Jaiswal, who's an opener is warming the bench and Kohli with no opening experience in intl cricket is stinking it up in name of "experience"

2. Rinku Singh despite performing in domestic, IPL, and intl cricket (average of 89 at SR of 176 in 15 matches!) not selected. The best performing Indian batsman was not selected to go with a "might have been" in Dube. This simply defies any logic. I've never seen a proven and performing player dropped anywhere. This was something which even bozos in Indian cricket had never done earlier. But hats off to "Bombay Duck" Agarkar, "Genius" Dravid (of the WC2023 pitch tampering fame), and "Chanakya" Rohit.

3. Abhishek not selected despite being the best Indian opener in SMA and IPL. Plus he would be such a handy bowler on WI pitches - definitely not much worse than Jadeja and miles better in batting.

4. Parag who was the best Indian middle order batsman in SMA and IPL ignored when we needed middle order depth. Plus he can roll his arm over

5. Varun C, the most in-form spinner in IPl not selected and TTFs like Chahal & Jadeja continue to get free ride with the team.

6. No player selected from 2 IPL finalists! Abhishek, Nattu from SRH, and Varun C, Harshit and Venky from KKR were more than a decent shout for selection. Imagine Varun C on these pitches!

U_G, please note that the criterion here is to only pick someone from the touring party. So, Parag, Abhishek are ineligible. So only RS and YJ from your analysis are eligible.

Ah ok. In that case following changes...

1. Rinku in the squad in place of Chahal as Rinku is part of touring party, and also in the team ahead of Dube

2. Jaiswal to open along with Rohit with Kohli at 3

3. Kuldeep in place of Siraj in playing XI

My team in Super 8...

Rohit

Jaiswal

Kohli

Pant

SKY

Rinku

Pandya

Axar

Arshdeep

Kuldeep

Bumrah

This team has specialist opener in Jaiswal with a left-right combo. We bat till 8, have 3 pace options, and 2 spinners. On helpful pitches in WI, I don't think we need extra bowling options and better to add depth to the batting.

Not the greatest tragedy i would include Bishnoi . If they were serious about an extra spinner Bishnoi should have been picked ahead of Chahl

IMO he would be tough to get away on these pitches. He's pretty close to Zampa and Rashid and doesn't give too much air. He would be difficult to get away on slowish pitches similar to the way he out-bowled Chahal in UAE in 2022 Asia Cup but was inexplicably dropped by that genius Dravid.

He gives KL type of vibes. There're much better T20 openers available - Jaiswal, Abhishek, Sai Sudarshan, Gill. I would pick all of these before Gaikwad

We can so easily field thr best team with these young guns but our pussy management only like slides stalwarts big names.

Ruturaj a proven performer? :hysterical: The guy belongs to KL school of cricket. You would rather have players who have an impact, not add more meek ones like KL & Dravid. After we get knocked out of this WT20, this is the batting lineup we should go with...

Jaiswal

Abhishek

Venkatesh Iyer

Pant (C)

Riyan Parag

Rinku Singh

Pandya

Harshit Rana

Kuldeep

Bumrah

Mayank/Nattu/Arshdeep (any in form pacer)

Others:

Sai Sudarshan

Gill

Bishnoi

Sai Kishore

Ashutosh Sharma/Shashank/Samad (or any in form hitter)

Any other in form pacer

Kuldeep for me. I understand ,given NY pitch, need was for a batter at 8 but I still would have preferred Kuldeep over one of jaddu or axar.

Jaiswal would have been a walking wicket on these tracks. Would have taken Samson over Jaiswal.
