MSD too started changing his game post 2007 ODI WC and this was the time when his hitting prowess was at its lowest. He publicly admitted that he can't hit sixes at will.

You know it as well as we do that the series was impacted due to Covid and we barely had 11 players starting. We had to playa team with Bhuvi batting at 6 and Navdeep Saini (the chap who would bat at 11 for most teams) at 7! Checkout this scorecard...

Their was talk of canceling the series but it was decided to continue as SL would face substantial losses and they couldn't afford it with the financial situation faced by SL at the time.

 

India did play a proper B team in the first 2 ODIs of the series and won both the matches and the ODI series. Then Covid hit and you can check out this team to see the difference between the original team (see below), and the Covid hit one (the previous one)...
