If not for WW-2, Dhyan Chand would have won 5 Olympic golds in a team sport. That record would have stood till the end of time.

Our own people talk about Bradman, Jesse Owens but don't know who Dhyan Chand was. Even our highest sporting award was named after Rajiv Gandhi till Modi changed it to Major Dhyan Chand award, happened recently.

For all the criticism that Modi takes, that was one good thing he did. Why have a sports award named after the husband of the italian waitress

China pumps in so much money to do well in Olympics. All artificial, manufactured, fake, just for national pride.

If they were a good sporting nation why can't they crack a single team sport? Football, hockey, cricket, rugby, volleyball, basketball, heck even baseball, where are they? India has reached the pinnacle in cricket, hockey, across several decades.

India's path will be more organic like the western countries. And that is how it should be.

Out of all Asian countries, India and khazaks and Iran have the best potential to excel in most physically demanding sports.

China not so much

Japan with the recruitment of Samoans lol have done alright in some physical sports.

They are following the former USSR/East Germany model. They used to win medals in most weightlifting , athletics gymnastics events using promotion at kindergarten level. Also most used to cheat with roping

Dhayn Chand doesn't even have Padma Vibhushan. Historical injustice must be corrected and an apology should be tendered to his surviving family.

Look how Aussies celebrate Bradman, even today.

Tbf China with their exclusive doping program (both USA and Russia do it too)

Have developed some good athletes in weight lifting, diving, even wrestling (some are good) and also iirc swimming.

These goras hype up netball and handball, make Hollywood movie about dodgeball. Have they heard of our Indian 'pittu'? Our schoolboys will beat their best.

have you heard of a similar game in india. I used to play sometimes in mid school. Its called mudugu puncture meaning "back puncture". basically like dodge ball with throwing balls at players who turn around, duck/weave/jump to avoid getting hit. if you don't want to turn, better wear guards in your "midsection" :--D

Every player that gets hit is eliminated. Don't remember the full rules. who cared in those times, we had fun playing it.

I remember when I played street football. Lol no rules. No fouls nothing. Slide tackled etc. Doesn't matter. Get hit with studs on ankle. Sorry play on lol.

choor chandu (piece ball) don’t know why it was called that. It is played more like playing tag. The kid who gets “out” has to hit another with the ball. The one who gets hit it is “out” next. One can dodge-weave-bend and avoid getting hit. That small rubber golf-ball sized ball would really hurt when hit.
