Vickydev Posted August 4, 2024 Posted August 4, 2024 Women's high jump is my favourite event every Olympics.. Cant explain why Vicks57 1
Gollum Posted August 4, 2024 Posted August 4, 2024 Forget AFL. Even NRL is bigger than BBL in Australia. IPL is an exception when it comes to cricket leagues. But India can always have two other big leagues apart from IPL, they need not be 20% as big. Just that if IPL runs during summer vacation, hockey league can be our winter league and run for 45-50 days. Kabaddi can take another slot. I didn't follow IPL till 2020 season. But PHL (mid 2000s) I followed every season. For 140 crore population we can easily form a gigantic fanbase to support a hockey league. Maybe start with 5-6 teams based in major hockey centres, instead of 8.
Gollum Posted August 4, 2024 Posted August 4, 2024 Just now, Vicks57 said: Kabaddi is just more entertaining to watch. 40 mins and the match is over. That's your personal choice. For me hockey, whole game including breaks can be wrapped up in 100 minutes.

The size of the ice hockey players and the speed at which they skate is terrifying. They have tried to make it less violent but before it was truly scary. Before you skate with your head down and you were inviting a hit from the "enforcers" like Kasparitis or Stevens(truly an enforcer). Eric Lindros was big and 240 lbs.... and delivered big hits but he played some offense and he skated with his head down.. here are two of the hits on him by two players themselves around 220 or 230 lbs, the second of which I don't think Lindros mentally recovered from. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L-Jg7ov2_Ss https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7JC7xyBuHrc Aware of that, many players have missing teeth. Geographically limited sport though, and requires lot of investment, for rich people. AKane 1
Vickydev Posted August 4, 2024 Posted August 4, 2024 Jacobs will have to wait to see if he even competes for the 100m finals. At the moment he is best of the two 'losers' who can make it
Vickydev Posted August 4, 2024 Posted August 4, 2024 Omenyala was nowhere tbf Looks like it will the Jamaican pair of Seville and Thompson vs Lyles
neel roy Posted August 4, 2024 Posted August 4, 2024 If Argentina beats Germany, India has to beat either of Argentina, Netherlands or Spain in just one match to win a medal. They ll get two chances to do that.
AKane Posted August 4, 2024 Posted August 4, 2024 Spain and Argentina both play soccer and field hockey - but Portugal and Brazil do not. Hmmmmm.....I guess the spanish and portuguese are not so similar after all.
AKane Posted August 4, 2024 Posted August 4, 2024 I wish we get Argentina in SF and Spain in final... but knowing our luck it will be Germany and Holland.
AKane Posted August 4, 2024 Posted August 4, 2024 So Australia has been outscored 11-4 over the last 3 games - nice!
Gollum Posted August 4, 2024 Posted August 4, 2024 Hope Rohidas is shown leniency by tournament director.

Indians must be mentally conditioned to handle the pressure and bring their A games to finish 1st whenever they compete. Like how the Chinese are conditioned into doing so.

Chinese are conformists and they have unitary govt. We still got idiots in our country who believe people who eat non-veg food are impure . Development has to be holistic. naah. those things are symptoms not reasons. will be cured with development.

They dominate everything they put their mind to. Honda, Suzuki, Yamaha, Kawasaki, Toyota, Mazda, Sony, Casio, Hitachi, Toshiba. Not to mention the Shinkansen bullet trains and game development. Japanese are diabolical in a good way. They invented Kaizen for god's sake. They dominate Moto GP as well. Chinese are also inventing now. You first copy, then you invent. Japanese did, Koreans did and the Chinese are doing now. Semi-conductors/Electronics etc China is doing well. Plus they are coming up in game dev/anime as well. And you know who the Europeans considered biggest copiers in the the 19th century? The Americans.
