It is about precedence i think. Since there are a lot of weight category sports they can't take an exception here. Expected. It was a long shot anyway. This blunder should never happen in Indian sports ever. That is the take away.

I know too many of congi trolls(a couple of them on icf as well) were wanting Modi meeting and talking to Vinesh after medal win and they are disappointed that they couldn't troll Modi.... I was wishing for medal for Vinesh (like all of the country) and thought judgement was a bit harsh...

I think the rules are there for a reason. She already was fighting in a lower weight category than her natural weight. She should have been extra careful. Her lapse has costed India a medal. Who is to accounted for this lapse. Desh ki beti keh kar maaf kar do. Sad, she truly deserved a gold if not silver. Too much unprofessionalism shown in the last year and half. Not commenting anything on politics. They are sports professionals which should be higher priority than her politics. She can do it all politics all of it now after retirement. Just like her sister Geeta

I guess the rule itself is unfair, but at the same time understandable as well, a different rule for ex. 2 silvers is also going to be complex.

Indian argument was also quite solid, on the right to eat and replenish, you require water and minerals in between fights, 3 of them in a day...it legitimately had potential to become a human rights issue imho. And she was within limits on the morning of the day when she won 3 fights n reached final.

Terrible but was on the cards... It was like hoping against hope.

Winning the medal right there when it matters is what makes it special.

Even if she had shared the silver the moment was already gone.

Need to learn from it & federation needs a complete revamp.

Then the argument back is to try it in a weight category that suits one’s natural weight, else the rules have to be followed. You can’t claim human rights when you are working on a specific weight category

1) Manu is extremely beautiful. A girl with Olympic success and beauty has world on its feet

2) Olympic medals once started coming in abundance loose their significance. Commercial sports are always favourite of people be it india or abroad. Those who keep on beating chest that Cricketers get everything don't understand stand this.

But they didn't ask her not to eat. So human right violation will be  a thin argument. Their only expectation is weight. How you maintain your weight is up to you.  She could have won bronze atleast in 53 kg category. Now comig home with nothing.

It all depends on the judge at the end of the day.

So you want our bronze medalist to work in a restaurant? :phehe:

Yes but as a by-product of India winning so many medals that people can't even remember the names of all individual medalists in the on-going or recently concluded Olympics.

1) Shows you’re  lattu for Manu and have lost all objective thinking

How I am lattu on her? Stating truth does not mean someone is attracted.

How does external beauty any way important in this discussion?

You think external beauty is not important in advertising. Smriti mandana brand value is 10-12 million usd  while cricketers like jhulan goswami hardly got anything.

Advertising is all about selling dreams and in those dreams you want someone with good looks and success.

Manu, Manika Batra, Smriti Mandhana

Bhajan Kaur if she starts winning will be on many ads

There is this 400m girl Rupal. She will also be on ads

Back in the day CWG/Asiad winners also got a lot of bhaav which has decreased now.

In 20-25 years only multiple medal winners including Gold will get bhaav. Or Gold in unexpected field. Like the Chinese guy who won hurdles in 2004.

Heck, even the Chinese man who made 100m final last without winning a medal got way more bhaav compared to their weightlifters, shooters etc etc.
