singhvivek141 Posted July 20, 2024 Posted July 20, 2024 Considering the huge population of a cricket players in our country. With the current one team setup, not every player is able to get their rightful chance in the playing XI. Can BCCI take a recommendation to ICC to start fielding two teams officially. Other team can be renamed as "Bharat" and it can consist of the players who are unable to break in the main "Indian" team due to various factors. Think otherwise, there are hardly few teams which are competitive. Ind, Aus, Eng, NZ & SA. We don't play with Pakistan and currently their standard is no better than Bangladesh. Teams like SL, WI aren't coming up anymore with good players and are basically format/condition based teams just like Afghanistan. zen and express bowling 2
Gollum Posted July 20, 2024 Posted July 20, 2024 No. Just like Aussies couldn't do it in 90s and 00s. And a host of other countries in other sports. Dutch women's hockey can field 6 teams and they'll take 1-6 positions in Olympics/WC. Pity they have to contend with just one medal even if they win all their matches by 10-15 goals margin.
express bowling Posted July 20, 2024 Posted July 20, 2024 (edited) ■ There are so few strong teams that the ICC can allow A-teams of all countries to compete in A-team tournaments of all 3 formats held every year. A ranking will be maintained. ■ The top 2 ranked Teams in each format will be able to compete in senior team matches for the next 1 year in that format. ■ For the A-team competition, only players who have played not more than 10 games for LOI formats and not more than 5 tests for 4 day A-team games, will be allowed. ■ When the top 2 A-teams compete against senior teams, they can include any player not in the Senior Team squad. ■ This way no preference will be given to India .... but India-A will make it on most occasions due to its strength. Australia-A will play often enough too. ■ This will also ensure more A-teams games in a structured manner for all teams in all formats. And improve the overall quality of cricket. MediumPacer Posted July 20, 2024 Posted July 20, 2024 No,we don't have that many good players. How many test openers do we have or no 3 .or fast bowlers or pace bowling all rounders .Also lots of poor fielders, how many slip catchers or good outfielders do we have and then all these bowlers who can't bat. . deepdynamo Posted July 20, 2024 Posted July 20, 2024 BCCI can seriously think of playing two Indian teams simultaneously esp during the test series. It will give game time and opportunities to so many fringe players. A tri seris between India backups, Scotland and Ireland in UK will be spicy. We did beat SA twice with under par squad both home and away. So safe to say Indian second XI can beat SL, BD, AFG, WI.
zen Posted July 20, 2024 Posted July 20, 2024 If you consider the population and the key driver for a sport like cricket, India should be asked to field at least 2 teams (if not more like 4 teams - North, East, South, & West). For e.g. the population of UP is similar to Pak’s.

Such ordinary names,Ruturaj can't even bat at ranji level, you want him as test opener? Gill is a reluctant opener,he knows his limitations. Jaiswal is the best option ,also like to see Sai, maybe kl as well given our limited options. Same with pace bowling , mostly average guys.Remains to be seen how likes of umran, mayank, harshit turn out .Lkes of tyagi are gone for good. Ramandip and sanvir aren't all rounders. nitish is injury prone but like to see him along with bawa . Atit Seth is like shardul.

Ruturaj or KL will be worshipped in a countries like Pakistan, Bangladesh, SL, Zimbabwe,WI. Likes of Tyagi, Simarjeet, Himanshu etc can easily find a place in teams like Ireland, Scotland, Bangladesh, Afghanistan who don't have enough fast bowling resources. One Brendon Taylor & Sikandar Raza can uplift the entire standard of Zim. Imagine if they have the players like Sai or Anmolpreet. express bowling and rollingstoned 2
