We are losing so many bilaterals with near full strength team in ODIs.

3-0 whitewash in SA against their B team in 2022

2-1 loss against BD in 2023 start

And this loss against SL.

Our B teams have performed so much better.

Yes our c team beat sa in their home

Yeah they did. It looks to be a motivation issue. May be Kohli, KL, Rohit, Siraj no one wanted to be there as Gambhir dragged them out of their foreign vacations.

Every player who played the WT20 got one month long break.  That's a good enough break.  Our loss is not becz of players getting burn out or lack of motivation.   Kela & Iyer are TTF who failed as expected. They were not part of WT20.        Kohli always fails against half decent spinners.  Just check how many times Moen Ali (a part timer) has dismissed kohli even while he was in his peak.  No surprises here.

If they're tired then let youngsters play. We've to plan for WC 2027 and this team ain't winning shyte.

2027 is still almost 3 years away. Indian Cricket is not known for such foresightedness.

Everything will be clear only a month or two before the ODI WC...till then dynamics may change.

History suggests that we always take a nosedive in performance once we win something big..as the cocaine of victory lasts for an year or two atleast with new power fulcrums emerging.

Still persisting with Kela, what do you expect?

His injury was the reason why we hammered Bazballers after Hyderabad test loss.

His manhoosiyat drags the team down. Loser mindset, will fit in well with our archers, cut from the same cloth.

Rahul.is preferred over Pant who is specialist wicketkeeper

How is losing one odi a taking a nose dive.Talk about overreacting.

What foresightnedness is needed again. That said I would not have Iyer and Rahul in my team but you cannot fault selectors for picking them up.

History suggests.

After we won 1983 WC, we lost few series post that.

Post 2011 ODI WC as well...we lost 0-8, we lost to Pakistan at home. Seniors retired and we were forced to rebuild, Dhawan played a key role in CT victory.

Post 2013 CT, we lost almost all ICC tournaments...so much so that people started calling us "chokers". We lost to England 3-1. Lost to NZ and Australia.

It remains to be seen if we regroup ourselves post this T20 win.

On the last para, if anyone still believes in KL Rahul. Then I don't have any argument left.

See, we were never good enough to be winning consistently in 1983.But they regouped and won in 1985 in Melbourne

2011 should have been end of Sachin and co but they kept playing hence those results.

I don't think it is end of Kohli in odis.

I have zero belief in KL Rahul. But his supported including selector will keep pointing to his WC overlooking his dreadful performance in the finals.Plus all other chokes in other formats.

Iyer who has one role in the team for so called great player of the spin but when has he done anything against spin. But morons like Gambhir will keep pointing to his 500 runs and semifinal 100.

IMO these two morons should not be near any Indian team in any format.

This OP is the same guy who was thrashing another poster for blaming Youngsters when they lost against Zim.

Now he took one match to call out names of a team who won a championship in the last 2 months.

These low iq idiots think they are protecting youngsters by writing on forums and that only seniors deserve all sort of criticism.

Youngsters actually performed and won. The T20 team is full of youngsters and you could see the difference. The same old has beens come back and are struggling to beat a no. 9 ranked SL which didn't even qualify for the CT.

Here comes the low iq idiot yet again.

So you say that Kohli who scored 765 runs should be thrown out?

How can bcci do that? Try giving them some reason as to why they are throwing out their best batsman. Your 2 kaudi ki hate mongering wont do anything.

Also as of now the focus is CT 2025 not WC.

Couldn't do anything when it really mattered. We all saw how he shyte the bed along with KL Rahul in the WC 2023 final after Rohit had given the team such a great start. It's beyond Kohli and KL to do anything and at the moment we are Bumrah or Bust. Kohli hasn't made a difference in ODIs at his peak and it's not gonna change. Better to get likes of Jaiswal and Parag in who're actually performing.

It's so clear that youngsters are performing better than the oldies. You simply have to see the T20 side and compare it to this ODI side. Need to make changes else we waster Bumrah's final ICC tourney in 2027 just as our top order wasted majority of his career over the last decade.

Youngsters have motivation to prove themselves.. seniors don't have that, their target only big tournaments

It's not as if the seniors have been winning big tournaments either. The next big one is in 2027 and I doubt the core batting group of Rohit, Kohli, KL and Iyer can do much there given their age at the time and recent performances. Time to inject fresh blood and bring in youngsters who've done well given limited chances.

Consistency in what? Are you saying we leave likes of Jaiswal, Parag (if he continues to perform), Pant etc. even though the team is struggling and has continually done so?

Even though it's clear looking at the T20 side that youngsters do make a difference and have an upside? And for how long? Bumrah is probably in his last phase and unlikely to go beyond 2027. Do we waste our last great chance at winning something with Bumrah by carrying the same players who're struggling big time?

Depends on their form. If they are not enough they will retire gracefully unlike dhoni

@Ultimate_Game Kohli outdated all youngsters in 2024 ipl. How can we expect his retirement. Even in odi wc scored 750+ runs

In IPL as an opener he had one of the lowest SR. Both Abhishek and Jaiswal had a much higher SR. Abhishek was the first Indian player to have a SR of 200+ as an opener across the season. He had very similar numbers as Head. In T20s SR is one of the key metrics for openers and not average. That's the reason Rohit's selfless batting since WC is so celebrated as he may not score the same amount of runs but he has had the most impact.

Secondly those number of runs were a similar theme we saw in previous WCs as well. IIRC even in 2019 WC, 2017 CT and 2015 WC Kohli has scored bucketful of runs but couldn't do much in finals/knockouts. It's the results and impact which matters and not the no. of runs. If we simply look at no. of runs, and not the context we'll continue with KL and Iyer as well coz they also scored runs. But we all know what will happen in WC2027 if we go with the same group again.

Jaiswal is clearly our no. 1 batter at the moment as he has shown across Tests and T20s. No reason for  him to play Tests and T20s and not ODIs. Players like Parag and Rinku are at their peak and are multi-dimensional. They can contribute in bowling as well. Let's say even if they average a few runs less than a pure batsman, they'll have a bigger impact overall factoring their batting, bowling and fielding. This is the reason the T20 team looks so well-rounded. But in ODIs we're still playing the same old age cricket with one-dimensional players. These young multi-dimensional players have much more upside as even if they get out for a low score they can contribute other ways. That's why we also need to try out likes of Nitish Reddy and Venky Iyer to complement Pandya as a pace all-rounder. We need to have at least 7-8 players who're multi-dimensional but it's not possible if we go with this core group. Plus Pant over KL is a no-brainer across any format.
