Ideally those from reserve or from A team should be selected.

Yup, I would go with anyone who's looking in the best form across all the players in Aus. Doesn't matter if they're in the Test squad or not. The goal is to win and if you've to make use of players not officially in the squad so be it. If Padikkal and Sai look the best bet to score given they've been there a long time, play them.

Why does everyone want siraj in the team? Id rather pack the side with batting and get harshit in.

Not everyone. I don't have Siraj in the team and should only come in if in the practice match he completely outshone Akash Deep and Harshit.

Bumrah is the only certainty and Nitish should play as a pace all rounder along with either Jadeja or Sundar as the spin all-rounder. That leaves 2 pace options available and right now Akash Deep and Harshit are ahead. Akash Deep for his recent performances which were much better than Siraj's, and Harshit due to his domestic form and his ability to hold the bat and get some runs along with his higher pace.

At the moment Siraj is a liability. His bowling has gone downhill and he can't bat or field.

Bcos shami isn't here...and rest are less experienced...Rana prasidh and reddy have not played in Australia and needs to understand what has to be done and not get over excited....so siraj gets in by default ..I think they might punt on Akashdeep if they want to go with Prasidh or Rana. I think once Siraj performs poorly in Perth. He will get replaced...

Jaiswal

Rahul

Jurel

Kohli

Pant

Jadeja

Washington/Reddy/Sarfaraz

Rana/Reddy

Akashdeep

Burmah

Siraj/Prasidh

I would go with Reddy or Washington based on batting form. 4 pacers and 2 are is enough.

Don't think 8 th batsman is going to win the game so go with Rana if he is the better bowler.

In the last series and in the series decider at Gabba our whole bowling lineup had 7 match experience altogether! Yup 7! And out of those 7, 3 match experience was during the series. We had a bowling lineup of Siraj, Shardul, Saini (who got injured), Natarajan and Sundar and IIRC 3 of them were making a debut!

That didn't hold us back. How many times are we gonna go with a player in poor form just because of "experience"? If you're picking a player for the series, he's good enough to play. I say go with Harshit, Reddy and Akash as Bumrah has all the experience along with Jaddu or Sundar.

Because with Shami out, Boom's gonna want at least one battle tested pacer he can trust in the bowling unit.

  1. Jaiswal
  2. KLPD
  3. Jurel
  4. Virat
  5. Sundar
  6. Pant
  7. Jadeja
  8. Harshit / Nitish
  9. Boom
  10. Akash / Prasidh
  11. Siraj

This is what I'd like to see.

Lightning doesnt strike every single time.

Folks are so quick to write Siraj off, and I get it, he's a bit blow hot, blow cold type. But he's a good bowler, and tends to take wickets in bunches.  Is especially good against left-handers, our perennial achilles heel.

Premature ejaculation about the potential of the 'next guy' shouldn't mean that you chuck your current players in the bin in kneejerk fashion.

And anyway, I trust Boom to make the right call in terms of the makeup of the bowling unit, especially the pace bowling unit.

It's not just about Siraj's form, it's the effort which seems to be missing and no wonder even his pace is greatly down.

At least the lightening struck once. What lightening strikes have been performed by our seniors? Other than the so called "experience", I don't see them do anything. Bumrah and Jadeja/Sundar is enough experience. After that selections should be based on performances, not seniority and experience.

Lol I’m surprised a guy like Siraj has got such strong fan following and support.

Have people not watched the last 1-2 years of cricket. Dude literally takes 1-2 wickets the entire match even on tracks that had something in it. Ends up putting the entire burden on Bumrah. Pace is down, no reverse swing, non existent batting.

If u go by the trend in recent matches, he occupies a spot, struggles and then eventually gets replaced at the end of the series anyways.

Having said that, they r probably gonna go with Bumrah Harshit/Prasidh and Siraj lol. And then eventually he might get replaced by Akashdeep.

DDP is a tall lanky left hander if there isn't enough movement he can handle the bounce of Perth.

Three left handers in top 6.  That means we may not collapse at least.

DDP batted well iin tough batting conditions in both the innings of the first Unofficial test for India A.

He may not be a bad choice here.

Top 6 confirmed :ranger:

Jaiswal

Kela

DDP

Chokli

Pant

Jurel

India has to strategically place Jaiswal. Padosis worked Travis head out by placing a short backward points trategically.  That is his favorite area. Hope Rohit uses his brain for once.

INdia's problem will be there is nobody to play the waiting game. Every one has the tendency to feel the ball constantly. So i expect more collapses. India needs a boring defender at 3 or 4.
