This will be a Uganda level event for many NRIs, exactly what I predicted. Indian Americans got back stabbed just like every other group that isn't white.

He is blocking some consultancies from applying multiple times which is a fraud in itself and why the reason Indians already get hate for different reasons here for misusing the system. How is that backstabbing? If anything it will help current Indians who are waiting for their processing date to get current since backlog of Indians will be shorter.

Trump has done lot of shyt things recently but this isn’t close to one of them. Immigration and H1b needs a reform. People already in U.S who are from India, Phillipines etc have suffered because of backlog. They can do with less petitions from those countries.

In terms od immigrarion only I will speak, U.S doesn’t want to become another Canada or Australia or UK.

The details aren't clear, is it 100k per company? 100k per NEW application? 100k for all applications including renewals? The report just says application fees, if this applies to all H1B applications, thats the worst case, people who have lived in US for more than decade will also get kicked out. How many companies are willing to give you a 100K raise especially with AI & offshoring?

the amount of people who will lose their jobs, their investments & their careers will be disastorous.

If this stands, it is literal Uganda dude. No one is giving you a 100k per year raise.... enjoy supporting trail of tears for Indians.

its goong to hurt potential US applicants sitting in India. Whether it hurts Indian janta waiting for GC only time will tell.

most folks on ICF will be fine since US icfers long timers must have already gotten their citizneship by now unless they migrated in last 10-12 years. We don’t know how this will pan out. Its too early to say whom it will impact and whether this even goes through.

most lawyers are interpeting it may impact any one outside the country even if you are an existing H1B traveling. This is a muslim ban with a 100k ransom thats going to Indians in US.

This rule is specifically targeting the consulting firms - TCS Wipro Infosys Cognizant and such.

Good idea even though the intent is not correct.

But these maga idiots r so brain dead that they themselves don’t know what they’ve put down in the proclamation lol.

It’s basically a 100k fee to enter the US on a H1B from outside the US. If u don’t pay, you are restricted from entering the US for a year. So basically people from US institutes or those who are already working in US (new or extension) won’t be impacted.

Also it’s so funny - the “gold card” which was initially priced at 3 million I think a couple of months back has now dropped to only 1 million :hysterical:

I guess they dint get any buyers lol.

I’m so waiting for this market to crash and for that next big dip / trade.

But it ain’t happening in this bull cycle. Three things need to happen -

1: inflation creeping to 4 plus percent (possible but not very likely), tariff looking more like a one time thing what might take 4-6 months to fully price in.

2: Monetary cycle shift (due to inflation)

3: AI growth slowing. Signs are already been seen in Nvidia earnings / revenues. Although AI is gonna remain a long term driver.

So basically low chances lol. So till then gotta keep up with these momentum based relatively low risk positions.

I am so happy for this H-1B rule. The innate enterprising spirit of telugus has been compromised by this idiotic H1B. Now they will return and start a new journey. Huge plus for the country as a whole.

Mudi must welcome all these returnees.

70% H1Bs are Indians.

So you want to kick the ladder of your own people so that you alone can benefit? This is not a great darwinian strategy and the reason why we become easy targets to every other group.

H1B visa has to be renewed every three years. My BIL renewed his H1B earlier this year after 3 years.

You should read the read the executive order, they are using the same laws that enabled them to do Muslim ban.

it is based on placing restrictions on ENTRY. The EO says ppl whose employer doesn’t pay 100k will be refused entry.

There are 2 ways to extend the H1b from what I remember.
1: Inside the US (if you’re already working in the US)

2: Outside the US (if you’re currently not working / finished your 3 years and are outside the US)

This bill specifically targets the second (and off course also new H1bs from outside the US). He doesn’t have the authority for the first and even the second will be challenged.

Sec3.  Scope and Implementation of Restriction on Entry.  (a)  The restriction on entry pursuant to section 1 of this proclamation shall apply only to aliens who enter or attempt to enter the United States after the effective date of this proclamation as set forth in section 1(a) of this proclamation.

Great move by President Trump to curb misuse of H1B.

Given H1B is for 6 years with extensions could have claimed a one-time at entry of 300k ,  50k per annum irrespective of whether the candidate stays that much or not.

If salaries are increased to 150k plus this fees, then hourly rates billable to customers will have to go up to 130 to 150 USD in US .

The prevailing wage (if done correctly) is extremely important. That’s the biggest legal tool to prevent misuse. If that’s raised to 150/200k/250k fixed minimum (depending on industry) from let’s say 100k, then that should keep the body shops out.

Only for now. Next stage would be Indian on H1B already working there. Directionally it's going there. As I said, expecting mass exodus of Indians to Dubai and India over next 3 years from all over the world. Things are moving.

Those were exactly my first thoughts. Telugu states are going to be the biggest beneficiaries of this decision.

But why should Modi welcome them or not welcome them? they went for economic reasons and will not go also for economic reasons (the employer can't afford 100k per yr extra)... Kal agar rule hatega to fir line lagakar khade ho jaenge h1b ke liye.
