Just asking:

what is the view of Muslim elite on Taliban and Deoband? Do they view them as dirty useful idiots to be used for their power pursuit or as a blot on the islamic identity.

I'm very confused.

Baba Siddiqui was a MLA level politician from Mumbai. Has nothing to do with Deoband or the Taliban.

I can't speak on the behalf of anyone else, but my fathers side of the family are, at least on paper, Barelvis. From a jurisprudence point of Barelvis have generally been inclusive of a plethora of Sufi practices and have been syncretic. Deobandi movement is a later movement, which is also Hanafi, and did churn out a lot of scholarly ( pertaining to jurisprudence) work 100 years ago, but have been reduced to fatwabazi for many years now.

In a nutshell, Barelvis are traditionally focused on deen and ruh, where as Deobandi scholars focus on deen and duniya fill the ranks of the AIMPLB. An archaic and parochial organization, whose foremost contribution to Indian society is that they have ensured that Muslims do not mainstream their interests with that of the wider nation.

If Deoband is Dr Frankenstein, Taliban is the worst monster that it can create. I don't think anyone sees Taliban as useful idiots. Families who claim Pashtun ancestry (my father's for eg) see the Afghan people generally in a very good light. But that transcends the fact that most Indian Pathans are Barelvi and most Afghan Pathans today are from a Deobandi school of thought.

Checking the tone of Trump and his cronies last week or so, one thing is clear. There is now a clear and distinct realization that America by itself is not numero uno. They dont have the leverage. Its pivotal shift.

Monumental shift for those of us who never knew of another world. Its here now. US is done and Q4 results will further confirm this. China has all the level of hard power except military. But it has enough in the military to keep the world at bay.

What does this lead to now ? More conflicts in our region. US will do everything it can to weaken China. Not buying the G2 bit yet, since India is pretty distant from any real leverage.

Trump, IMO bite off more than what he could chew. There is no denying that US still is the only superpower which has military presence all over the world.
However, at the same time, thinking that US can fight battles at multiple fronts simultaneously was too much delusion. Their intent obviously was to shake up the arms and oil industry and sell more and more american products. But that shift can't happen overnight, and Trump wanted everything, done at the blink of eye.

China is economic superpower with sizeable military strength, Russia may be weak economically, but their arms industry is still pretty rapid. India is growing both economically and militarily to become a key player. You need atleast one on your side to keep the balance, Trump simply gave away everything.

Its a given, US will try to light up the fault lines within India. They tried to do the same in Russia, to get rid of Putin.

But anyway, I dont think Modi should continue in 2029...he will be 78-79 by then. Age is a factor which cant be ignored.

Age is not the factor. Fitness and agility is. Modi at 75 is more agile than many 50 year olds. Perhaps having a clear deputy PM will give a clear line of sight for the country.

Then they should do it immediately after 2027 UP polls. Yogi needs to be given an opportunity at the center, but probably him not being from RSS can be a show stopper.

Probably more motivated and active and able to do long hours than most 20 years olds'.

lol dude... this guy isn't trump, at least trump speaks stuff he doesn't fully think through. He is a cold caclulated ##shole, he knew exactly what he meant when he used that word. The context is pretty clear, hiskilled immigration, not low skilled immigration. No one in US calls people in the tech industry servants.

he literally excused 30+ year old republican state senator & his party workers saying the worst racist stuff as kids. This guy is wrose than trump.
