In the end, Trump is doing whats good for his country (short term pain to long term manufacturing /jobs) As for India , if every country is taxed, we still gain viz a viz others based on tariff rates. PS: Indian markets are almost ignoring this and money talks at the end That is not how any of it works, China didn’t become manufacturing powerhouse just because they tariffed everyone out. You need to have an industrial policy & heavily subsidize manufacturing until it becomes viable. This government is totally against spending money to achieve that, & is even trying to roll back one of the good things Biden did with the CHIPS act. Even if you are theoretically correct, & somehow these policies will turn the tide in manufacturing sector. Short term pain means drubbing in 2026 midterms, & a dysfunctional second half. Duh Indian & Chinese markets aren’t reacting much because even at this rate, it is still profitable for American importers to import than to move supply chains. The market that is crashing is the American market. Vicks57 1

Any policy position needs support of population at large, Indian farm bill fell through because of discontent even though it might have helped India in the long run. mishra Posted April 3, 2025 Posted April 3, 2025 US is not looking to manufacture in US. All it is looking is to manufacture some automobiles in US. But it is definitely looking to moove manufacturing out of China. Actual tarrif on China now stands at 54%. Not 36% as some may think. coffee_rules 1

CHIPS act literally brought semiconductor manufacturing to US without causing US markets to crash or trade wars. Biden did fail generally, but chips act wasn’t one of them. Vicks57 1

TSMC will invest 100B$ or so in the next 5+ years but thats more to do with China posturing towards Taiwan than US policies.
Autonomous Posted April 3, 2025 Posted April 3, 2025 It might help our exports to US vs Bangladesh though. As tarrif on BD is like 37% compared to PK which is 29%.

TSMC has already has set up and started fabrication directly because of chips act. Your claim is backwards, lookup the term “silicon shield”. Taiwan will have western protection against china as long as it has monopoly or controls major portion of the advanced chips supply chain, without it the west could care less as to what china does with Taiwan. It benefits Taiwan for TSMC to not expand in US. Edited April 3, 2025 by IndianRenegade Vicks57 1
mishra Posted April 3, 2025 Posted April 3, 2025 Rest of world will devalue their currency within nxt 1 -2 year to fight Trumpism. Just those in 40%-50% bracket will find it hard to devalue that much in front of their people

The same ppl who advocate for tax cuts will do mental gymnastics to justify this tax increase. As it’s typical with conservatives they will continue to do mental gymnastics until they are actually impacted, if it takes a recession, then it takes a recession. I am ignoring that idiot. If you respond to that idiot with personal jibes, I refuse to respond. You are doing whataboutry of dem tax increase of income tax to some tax increase of imported goods . Also , start your RR after at least a year when we file tax returns in 26 and compare. It is hardly 3 months and Dems are thinking Trump has been around for 4 years. Biden has 4 years of lame duck period funding a war which we never should have gotten into.

The discontent was all managed by toolkit operators both in and out of the country. Only farmers of 2 states raised the issue and Govt backed down due to elections. There is no such thing in US right now
