Rohit and Kohli - Retirement Watch

Kohli and Rohit likely want to play in the 2027 World Cup for ODIs and then retire. For Tests, they probably aim to go through the next cycle as well. As for the selectors, I'm unsure where they stand. Ideally, they should be dropped immediately from all formats, but due to PR, that feels more like a dream than reality.

 

When do you think they'll be shown the door? Do we need to lose everything for them to feel pressure, or can they still be dropped even if the team is winning, but they are just passengers?

For Indian crickets sake, i hope we dont qualify for WTC final. Then it becomes easier to phase out the two seniors & bring in new folks.

Sadly, there is no such thing as merit in Indian team selection. And with so much brand value and money that these two command, they will want to milk the system even more. They have already screwed us enough over the last 5 years, but I guess they want to get more. We have to learn to live with mediocrity unfortunately.

Unfortunately these two leeches will not leave unless they've run Indian Cricket dry and taken every bit of dollar they can eke out.

 

There's no such thing as meritocracy in Indian cricket and team selections are a popularity contest. Whichever player's PR and backing is the strongest gets in. A youngster or a performing player can't even get to India A without backing from right places/groups.

All he needed was a batting line up that is capable scoring 250+ runs on regular basis.

When the player with the best record & stats can't even get into India A and folks who don't even come close to the said player not even get into India A team but play for India, it says it all. Indian cricket is a PR game and popularity contest. Get the right backing/sifarish and you're all set! Deserving players can go pound said and try to find the right backers.

 

Case in point, check out these 4 players' stats (FC and List A) and which one do you think should be part of India A and Indian team setup? 3 of these 4 have played for India and guess who didn't even get to India A?

 

Hint: Some may be shocked but those who know how Indian system works would understand that the guy who's heads and shoulders better than the rest can't even get into A team. So much for "performance" and "merit".

Yup. It's sad to see Bumrah hardly win anything. If Bumrah and Shami had gotten anywhere close to the support Cummins and Starc have received from Head and Smith, they would've won multiple trophies and series.

 

But in Indian La La land they were the ones blamed and thrown under the bus for batters' failures and inability to show up when it mattered.

 

As an example we can see fans like putrevus on this forum itself who claims Kohli is the reason India are relevant in intl cricket, and without him India wouldn't even make knockouts of ICC tourneys. As per him Kohli needed more support from bowlers as bowlers never turned up and did anything 

 

When you've such braindead moronic fans and selectors, leeches like Rohit and Kohli are what you deserve. They saw with their own eyes what Indian youngsters could do in 2020-21 BGT when they beat Aus in Aus or beat Eng at home recently when the leech count was lower with no Kohli there. Yet here we are with our quota of 2 leeches and we're back to losing.

If the Head Coach has no role in selection of players, then there is no point of having a head coach at all.  If Gambhir can't take bold call on inclusion/exclusion of RoKo, he should resign immediately.  Coz no matter how good his coaching/support staff is, the team will suck if players are sh!t.

When ruler of BCCI (note ruler, not head), nepo-baby Jay Shah has anointed Rohit as captain for eternity and has publicly supported Kohli to be in the team, selectors and coaches are powerless to do anything.

 

Looks like we'll have to wait for Jay Shah era to end before these two parasites are kicked out. But then another set of politicians will come in to replace Jay Shah and the cycle will continue. That's the reason we have underachieved to such an extent coz Aussies don't have to play with one hand tied behind their proverbial back. Every single Aussie player deserves to be in the team on merit and they don't get 5+ year long ropes.

We won a lot just that they didn't standup in few big matches which is expected from senior pros ,that's what counts

+ They add bad precedent in front of guys like Gill, Pantatunga,Jaiswal,that statpad for 1-2 years,build a eeeuge pr team and everything just falls automatically at place

We nearly had 80+ winning percentage in Odis during coach Thanos and Bevda era across formats

Tim Southee has announced his retirement, he played 2008 U19 WC alongside Jadeja and Kohli.
Retired with 391 wickets in Tests, didn't dragged his career chasing Richard Hadlee's 431 wkts tally.
When will our superstars get rid of this obsession.

Rohit is part of 2006 U19 batch.

Most players don't want to retire when they should unless they are pressurized

Here Rohit Kohli have no pressure on them from the BCCI

But these g@@d[]§ have all the pressure while batting when the side needs them the most
