Couldn't chase 239 in 2019 SF and were dismissed 240 in the final at home and then blame bowlers. What exactly are the bowlers supposed to do? Bowl opponents for 150 so "King" Kohli and "Hitman" Sharma can score those. Against NZ in 2019 SF all they had to do was to see off Boult and Henry's first spell with the new ball. Even a score of 20/1 off 10 overs would've won us the game. What did our superstars do? Ended up being 5/3 and then morons like you blame bowlers. In 2023 WC final, Rohit at least gave a decent start with India on 80/2 off 10 overs. Even if batters had scored at 5 an over in the remaining 40 overs we would've ended up on 280 and probably a few more in the death overs would've taken the score closer to 300. That would've given bowlers something to defend. Bu "King" Kohli couldn't do jack shyte and choked as usual putting a paltry 240 on the board. And who gets the blame - bowlers. We saw the same shyte in WTC finals too where "King" Kohli failed as usual and couldn't do anything. Cometh the finals the so called "King" Kohli replicated his performances from IPL playoffs as is the norm with him. Yes Bumrah has been first class choker till 2024 world t20. Ashwin and Jadeja defended 130 in 2013 CT finals. RPsingh and Pathan defeded 157. When no name bowlers can win India world cup. It is okay to expect Bumrah to do well defending small score. Yes bowling first in overcast conditions, you are allowed to get other team out for 150. Aussies bowled out NZ 183 to win wrld cup . King is/was just fine, He was top scorer in two ICC finals and his other knock in another finals helped his team win world cup.if he did not have choking bowling choking away his hard work in many matches. India would have won many more tournaments. King also did his part in first test finals but our main so called strike bowler picked 0 wickets in overcast conditions. Same bowlers have turned a slogger like Head into Bradman in all formats. Edited December 19, 2024 by putrevus New guy, Late Cut, Sandz and 1 other 1 3

He has lots of chances and cups coming up to do better Whatever you cry about, test cricket is the pinnacle where you darling has been laying eggs for 5+ year Bumrah will retire as a test ATG while Kohli will just be remembered as a good test bat. If Bumrah and bowlers have to defend below par and lowish totals, and have to dismiss teams for 150, what's the point of having a so called "King"? If Kohli can only help in scoring a below par total then any other batter would do as well. No, the King didn't help in winning anything. In 2011 WC final Gambhir and Dhoni won the game by taking the team from 115/3 to chase 274. In 2013 CT it was Ashwin and Jadeja who won the match by defending a below par 129 in 20 overs, and in WT20 2024 it was Bumrah's masterclass which helped in defending yet another below par total where "King" Kohli did his best to lose another match. And even the below par total was thanks to Axar and Dube who outbatted the "King". Literally every ICC tourney Kohli has won is thanks to riding other players' coattails. All "King" Kohli has managed in his career is either put up below par totals like 240 in 2023 ODI WC or failed to chase gettable totals like 239 in 2019 WC SF. Not even once the so called King has made a difference is an ICC knockout, just liek his IPL playoff record. The only thing Kohli is a King of is choking and meaningless bilateral runs. This Test series sums up Kohli's career the best. When stakes were low and the match was done he filled his boots with a useless 100 at Perth when he came in at 300/2 with the match won. But when he had to come in at 30/2 and actually score some runs he failed every single time. Likes of Akash Deep showed much more with the bat when it counted than the "King", and Jadeja had to bail the team out just like he has done over the years with the King sitting in the dressing room as usual. That's Kohli's career in microcosm - the biggest downhill skier and fairweather batsman the world has ever seen. GoldenSun and Forever Indian 2

Strangering Posted December 19, 2024 Posted December 19, 2024 (edited) We are supposed to shift our attention to inconsiderate Australian media trying (unsuccessfully as intended) to film sorry Kohli with his kids, not retirement. Please take the bait. Kohli's PR has had enough of the retirement talk since yesterday so they worked hard to set up the above event. Kohli is an actor playing the role of a haphazard cricket player with fame for the last 4 years. Edited December 19, 2024 by Strangering GoldenSun 1

Strangering Posted December 19, 2024 Posted December 19, 2024 Journalism is dead when they don't ask these players why do they hang around despite years of consistent failure. They can't defend it (just like deliveries from Starc and Cummins). Ultimate_Game 1

If he can't handle pressure of being a cricketer or being in limelight he can quit anytime he wants to and go back to England. Nobody's forcing him to stick around and lay eggs. Can't do shyte and on the field and making up these bollywood dramas off it.

StraightDrive26 Posted December 19, 2024 Posted December 19, 2024 Virat has lost the drive long time. When he started his career and was at the top till 2018/19, he said that he will not keep playing and will leave if he is not contributing. He seems to have forgotten his own words. When people compare Virat with Sachin it irks me because there is no comparison. For example In 1998 when Australia came to India, Shane Warne came with a huge reputation. There was no McGrath but Warne was the major threat. Sachin decided to play for Mumbai in Australia' first tour game in India to just get look at Warne. Shane Warne was absolutely hammered in that game and Sachin Scored 200. The treatment continued through the Test series. Warne was never successful against Sachin. Sachin during his peak continued to play for Mumbai in Ranji Trophy, that's why he had 30 FC hundreds and almost 10 k FC runs besides all the runs he scored for India. None of the current players want to take that option even when they are out of form. Virat Kohli has been struggling in Tests for 5 years now but he never thought of playing FC games to work on his batting. He last played Ranji Trophy in 2012, while Sachin played in 2013 the year of his retirement. Even during India's last tour to England he was supposed to play some FC games in England before the series, he decided to skip it and we all see his struggles. Even Shardul Thakur looked more assured than him in that series. We drew that series because Rohit and Rahul had a rare great series. Our lower order did very well and our bowling was brilliant. He has regularly skipped FC games, joined the team late on tours. Skipped tours and home series regularly. His mind is no longer in the game, he needs to accept that. He probably still thinks he can make a comeback but I don't think he can. He will score runs here an there like he has done over the last 5 years, he has 3 hundreds during that time. That does not mean he will come back to what he was in 2018/19. Those days are long gone. I haven't seen any Indian player have such a long slump and still continue to play in the Test team. Sachin at the age of 39-40 went through similar slump in his last 2 years and was vilified to no end for playing on. While Sachin was brilliant till he was about 38 in Tests and had great tours to NZ and SA before his form dipped. Virat lost his form at 31 and has never been able regain his form since then. I feel BGT should be his last no matter what happens in the final two Tests. Same goes for Rohit as well but again he is not in the same level as even Virat in Tests. Just yesterday he created a scene at the Melbourne airport cause some Aussie journalist took a picture of his kids. I mean if he has made it clear that he doesn't want his kids photographed then nobody should, but why would you create ruckus about it if someone has done it in an absolute public space. Don't take your kids out if you are so paranoid about privacy and blah blah. He married a bollywood A lister and bollywood people have this mentality that you have to keep yourself in news. He always had this desire to be the centre of attention and to some extent it helped him too in his early years because he wanted to be the best man in his team, but it has just gotten worse with him being managed by bollywood PR.
