That's a good sporting attitude to have brother, more Australian like. I am still a bit senti, and attached to our players who I followed closely. Wouldn't mind them retiring but will hang on to nostalgia for some time.

Australian se yaad aaya,only player that I would want to watch or play professional cricket again is Adam Gilchrist

No other cricketer fascinated me as him,wonder how would he have done in this current T20 era

Think Gilly was pretty good in 2008/09 IPL even post retirement.

 

Anyway half that Aussie side fascinated as well as scared me, pieces of **** but boy were they good. Unpopular opinion but I rate Andrew Symonds as the GOAT ODI player, first name in my AT ODI XI, even ahead of Viv. He would have been devastating in T20s as well, but age caught up with him and didn't play much.

Yes,GOAT odi player for the things he could do during that time ,he was ahead of his time

He could bowl seam up,slow orthodox, brilliant fielder,arrest collapses while tearing apart best of bowling lineups coming in the middle

Getting him out before the last 10 overs was major relief for bowling sides

India were always on the mat when he was at the crease chasing 188 in the inaugural T20 WC,once Irfan removed him

I was assured that we will win the SF

Greatest fielder IMO, better than Rhodes/Ponting/Gibbs/ABDV/Collingwood/Jadeja/Guptill. As athletic/quick as them but much larger reach. 

 

7/10 times he would hit the stumps, from the most difficult of angles. Nobody else comes close.

Yes, it was an excellent decision from Ashwin. Washington is ready to take his place, and we have seen how washed up Ashwin was in last few matches. 

 

Who is coming in to replace Ashwin in the squad?

Rutu is groomed as someone who'll lead the team for the next 5-6 years. Ashwin will most likely play 2-3 seasons before hanging his boots from IPL and joining CSK coaching dept. hopefully.

Also his stint as KXIP captain was a failure.

Ashwin should try and lead his side to a Ranji win, God knows when TN last won one, maybe 30+ years long drought. 

 

Ashwin pairing up with Sai Kishore will be lit. Maybe even Washi can turn up for a match or two.

Anirudda srikkanth in his cheeky cheeka show was telling his fater Cheeka that he already knew he was going to retire.   Seems like based on the schedule that India had, Ashwin has hinted that he is going to call it a day.
