I have always wondered.

 

India appears to be less hygenic and poorer than China. Not just India, but South Asia.

 

Yet there has been no major international outbreak coming from there.

 

East asia China /South east asia you have h1n1, covid and now potentially this...

 

Africa has Ebola which deadly...but given the poverty geography etc it sort of makes sense.

Indians have strict rules on what animals to consume and what not.

 

Chinks, for some odd reason, consume everything. The viral population in these animals is exposed to humans. In a rare occasions, due to an unfortunate mutation, the virus jumps to humans. And then we have a pandemic.

This is probably as good a hypothesis as any. Humans having closer contact with wildlife, which harbors all sorts of viruses.

 

Plus, with SARS CoV2, I would not rule out a lab leak. There is enough scientific evidence to keep this as a possibility.

I was reading about the black death of 13th century. It sent 50% of Firang population to other world.

 

Apparently it originated in Tian Shan mountains in China

Tien Shan back then is the heartland of the Turko-Mongol culture, with China not being present there, so to be fair, we cant blame it on China. the blame goes on Mongols and that too, not for directly spreading it or eating weird ****, but because they created Pax mongolica - where one could travel between Moldova to Mongolia or middle of Turkey to southern half of China under the SAME trade regulation and rules of the Khan, which allowed for a plague epidemic to become the first main global bubonic plague pandemic

 

The European legend goes that the plague arrived in the edges of the cities of Greek Crimea - the cities on the cost of sea of Azov/Crimea, which were basically free cities vassals to either romans/byzantines or the turkic powers through the past 1000+ years and at this time happened to be under Mongol empire but by now the cities having huge euro merchant quarters from places like Venice, Verona, Genoa, etc. and when the Black Death arrived in these cities, these mechants ran away back to Italy, but brought the plague with them. The Mongol empire's existence was the reason why the transmission of the bubonic plague from far western corners of modern day mongolia to the vicinity of crimea happened in a matter of couple of years instead of maybe decades possibly

Not an odd reason. It is well documented because of Mao he got all the sparrows killed and when the birds were killed all the fields got overran by worms and no food was there to feed people. Then China asked people to eat whatever they can find. This started the Chinese habit of eating anything that moves. It will not go away. It is part of their culture now. It probably is a delicacy for them now.
