Ultimate_Game Posted February 15, 2025 Posted February 15, 2025 Bumrah and to a lesser extent Shami and bowlers kept us relevant over the last decade. It's unfortunate that they couldn't get the support from batters the way their Aussie counterparts did. Likes of Cummins and Starc won every tourney out there coz they had likes of Travis Head, Warner and Steve Smith who showed up and performed when it mattered. While we had "King" Kohli and "Hitman" Rohit who failed every time the stakes were high. express bowling and singhvivek141 2

Bumrah, Shami, Umesh (in India) Ishant (overseas). 2 are unofficially retired and third one too is nearing his expiry. Edited February 15, 2025 by singhvivek141 Ultimate_Game 1

We wasted our window. We should've won literally every tourney with someone like Bumrah. We had the best all-format pacer in our team and couldn't win anything And that's all on the batters. Never showed up and did anything to help the bowlers. It was bowlers and lower order who had to consistently clean up the mess. tapandrun and singhvivek141 2

Yes made the some point sometime back, questioning bhumrah when Ind would not win any icc event. are teams able to nullify him. They say Ind had best top 3 with kolhi as best batter in odis ever, dhoni as best finisher and Ind won nothing and it was not like there was any super team like aus of mid 90s-mid 2000s of wi of older years. winning 1st t20i wc was nothing , its like rr winning 1st ipl no1 remembers. 1st edition no1 know what to do no1 know where this format is in terms or icc events. Just look at this CT no team is interested. And 2011 wc was home wc and everything went well fr ind, yuvi played top game, sachin kept scoring like he was doing in all those wcs, zaheer bowled well in key moments and nullify murli and malinga on finals Edited February 15, 2025 by tapandrun Ultimate_Game 1

No team had lost a home ODI WC since 2007. And they went out and lost to a not so good Aus team the same way they lost the 2017 CT Final to Pak. In both these matches we were the favorites but still lost. 2017 CT ws due to Kohli's hubris in electing to chase on a patta knowing fully well Pak can't chase for shyte just to spite Kumble who wanted India to bat first, and then not playing Umesh or Shami when Pak struggle against pace. And 2023 WC can be used as a case study on how to shoot yourself in the foot with "Chanakya" Rohit and "Genius" Dravid making cow dung of a pitch. And after making a low, slow pitch they didn't even select Ashwin in place of Siraj, and they were the ones to select another eternal failure SKY in ODIs for no reason despite no performances to speak of. putrevus Posted February 19, 2025 Posted February 19, 2025 (edited) No he is not.He is best fast bowler from India who has comeup very short in big games. It is not even close how many matches he has come up short for a great fast bowler. Edited February 19, 2025 by putrevus

Bumrah flopped hard in 2016, 21, needs at least one more epic T20 WC to be compared to Kohli. Even in tests he doesn't have longevity, and needs more to show, perhaps a WTC trophy or a defining performance in NZ. His record in important tests leaves a lot to be desired. You sound like Kumar Sangakkara's dad who was overly critical of him all the time. Thank your stars here, he's the only bowler who is being compared with great West Indian fast bowlers. I don't see us producing fast bowlers averaging below 30 in future, let alone getting compared with ATGs.

They exist within their context which are so different. Kapil took Indian cricket from minnow level to world beaters in that age. Bumrah plays in peak professional era with so much tough high level cricket and has left everyone behind. He is undisputed best player without any excuse of condition or competition. Kapil Dev was a fixer. Bumrah has integrity.

You can say whatever negative you want to about him but for vast majority of Pakistanis he has been the most dignified, respectable, honest leader Pakistan has ever produced. Again , you are free to say, whatever you want to but I won't start any match with you on this . If you don't respect your on cricketing hero Kapil Dev ( I'm a huge fan of him ) , what can I expect from you for a hero from an enemy country.

Nothing else to cast any suspicion on Kapil, even RSA agencies found nothing on him.

Rashid Latif in an interview somewhere in early 2000s also took Kapil's name.

Kapil is one of the cleanest sportspersons we have produced. His only controversy was his association with ICL, anyway BCCI itself launched IPL a year later.
