Mayank Yadav set to miss at least first half of IPL

Looks like Mayank is gonna miss half of this year's IPL, and even that is optimistic. Wouldn't surprise me if he misses most of the IPL. So far I've only seen him play 3 IPL matches and a couple of T20Is. So 5 T20s over the last 2 years and is perpetually injured. He's more injury prone than Shane Bond and James Pattinson combined. I'm not holding my breath anymore.

From the article linked below "There is no firm date set by the BCCI for Mayank's return yet, but if he meets all the fitness parameters alongside increasing his bowling workload, he could feature in the latter half of the IPL."

Mayank probably going Cummins way.

Have to be careful with him.

Hopefully he plays at least 2-3 games in the fag end.

Then BD T20s and keeping him fit for Asia Cup should be priority.

I'm beginning to worry now. This has been going for a while. I was hoping he would be pair up with Bumrah and take the mantle from him over the years. But so far other than Mayank's first 3 IPL games there's nothing much to show for it.

Back stress injury takes 6 months

Do you think he will be able to bowl 150ks after this.. Did Mark wood ever had such imjury?

Shane Bond had similar injury and he had to cut his career short.

All genuine quicks have had such injuries, some multiple. They still bowled quick.

Not just shane Bond, Umesh Yadav twice, Varun Aaron thrice, Mitch johnson 4 times, Mitch starc all had back stress injury, didn't lose pace, played long too.

Don't recall Umesh and Mitch Johnson facing such injury. Umesh was always extremely fit. His challenge was more maintaining a good line & length.

But hoping Mayank has a long career and is able to maintain his speed of 150+

Mitch johnson made his debut late due to back injuries. He already had face stress injuries before his debut. Umesh had back one stress fracture and one stress reaction. Also fitness got nothing to do with workload injuries. All these bowlers were very fit but still has stress fractures.

As long as he is playing International cricket I don't mind him skipping pointless IPL games.

He should use this time to do some strength and conditioning & try to build some muscle mass work on his core.

Bhai, I seriously hope we give BD tour a miss. BD is as big a rogue state as Pak now.

Awamis are rising again in BD.  There is maybe hope left.  We need to keep playing our cards right.
