Ultimate_Game Posted March 11 Posted March 11 Looks like Mayank is gonna miss half of this year's IPL, and even that is optimistic. Wouldn't surprise me if he misses most of the IPL. So far I've only seen him play 3 IPL matches and a couple of T20Is. So 5 T20s over the last 2 years and is perpetually injured. He's more injury prone than Shane Bond and James Pattinson combined. I'm not holding my breath anymore. From the article linked below "There is no firm date set by the BCCI for Mayank's return yet, but if he meets all the fitness parameters alongside increasing his bowling workload, he could feature in the latter half of the IPL." https://www.espncricinfo.com/story/ipl-2025-lsg-mayank-yadav-set-to-miss-first-half-of-the-season-with-back-injury-1476678 raki05 1
Teengunalagaan Posted March 11 Posted March 11 (edited) In a way, it's a good thing he is not rushed in just in the pressure of IPL. Whatever it is, they need to sort it out for good even if it takes extra time, but just make sure when he returns, he does with 100% certainty. test fan Posted March 11 Posted March 11 No worry .he needs to comeback with 100% fit and i hope his pace not down after injury raki05 1
Lone Wolf Posted March 11 Posted March 11 Mayank probably going Cummins way. Have to be careful with him. Hopefully he plays at least 2-3 games in the fag end. Then BD T20s and keeping him fit for Asia Cup should be priority. raki05 1
Ultimate_Game Posted March 11 Author Posted March 11 (edited) I'm beginning to worry now. This has been going for a while. I was hoping he would be pair up with Bumrah and take the mantle from him over the years. But so far other than Mayank's first 3 IPL games there's nothing much to show for it. Need4Speed Posted March 11 Posted March 11 Its also beacuse.., “However, Zaheer stressed he would only want a totally fit Mayank back in the saddle. "As much as we are keen on having him [play IPL 2025], we want him 150% fit not just 100% fit so we'll do everything possible to get him there," he had said.” this is good.. Don't recall Umesh and Mitch Johnson facing such injury. Umesh was always extremely fit. His challenge was more maintaining a good line & length. But hoping Mayank has a long career and is able to maintain his speed of 150+ raki05 1

He already had face stress injuries before his debut. Umesh had back one stress fracture and one stress reaction. Also fitness got nothing to do with workload injuries. All these bowlers were very fit but still has stress fractures. https://www.espncricinfo.com/story/umesh-yadav-resumes-training-likely-to-be-back-in-april-623034 Edited March 11 by rkt.india putrevus, raki05 and Ultimate_Game 1 2

As long as he is playing International cricket I don't mind him skipping pointless IPL games. He should use this time to do some strength and conditioning & try to build some muscle mass work on his core. raki05 and Need4Speed 1 1
