Lord Posted May 5 Posted May 5 A player on bench gets mysteriously injured, allowing franchise to get a good player and retain BOTH for next season without affecting their purse in the auction. The rule makes no sense Chakdephatte 1
cowboysfan Posted May 5 Posted May 5 players can always opt out right? they are only signing for this season. tapandrun 1
Chakdephatte Posted May 5 Posted May 5 I don't have sources, but I have seen videos of Gurjapneet Singh bowling practice on Twitter. The governing council is a joke. Lord 1

bowl_out Posted May 5 Posted May 5 (edited) Ruturaj's and Vansh Bedi's injuries seem real. Vansh was supposed to play last match against RCB and his name was on the team sheet, but got pulled out last minute due to an ankle injury. Gurjapneet looks like a scam. Agreed that IPL governing council should allow only one of the injured player or their back up to be retained. The first abuser of this rule was RCB back in 2011 or 12. They brought Dirk Nannes as Gayle's injury replacement, but both of them were retained the next year. It's been more than a decade, but the broken rule hasn't been fixed Edited May 5 by bowl_out tapandrun, Lord, rollingstoned and 1 other 1 3

Texan Posted May 5 Posted May 5 I wonder why Urvil didn't get picked up in the auction after such fantastic domestic achievements. On the question in OP, yes, it seems like a backdoor entry teams are exploiting now. They shouldn't allow injury replacements to be retained. Even in the field there have been numerous instances of bowlers just walking off the ground after their overs are done to allow a bettter substitute fielder. Unpires should disallow these. crictime 1

He is with CSK now. Worst franchisee to pick a wicket keeper. Because there is no way in hell a keeper can shine with CSK.

But Urvil patel should consider himself unlucky to be part of this franchise both as an youngster and keeper. He is in good batting form. He should be playing right now to make an impression. Who knows what his form will be like next year. CSK has delayed the development of lot of youngsters over the course.

vvvslaxman Posted May 5 Posted May 5 One good thing that has come out of this is, even CSK is going after youngsters if someone is injured. Be glad they didn't buy Pujara as replacement.
