Fair enough but Pant should be lower in the order. Jadeja and possibly Reddy should come in before him as batting is going to be their main role in the side especially with early English summer start. Pant has a full time keeper role and lof of the issues in the indian setup have been because of lack of role clarity with him when he comes in too early to start blocking and has to rebuild after an early order collapse.

Pretty sure omission of Sarfaraz/Iyer is GG's call, if you go by past reports he doesn't like those two guys.

NKR shouldn't be considered an all rounder. His bowling isn't good enough and his batting is downhill since the century.

Reasonable team though I can see Gill struggling in England and being no different to Kohli in terms of batting performance. He averages 35 after 32 tests with zero hundreds  just 2 50s outside Asia after a pretty extended run. Rahul has similarly mediocre stats. i have a feeling it is the new guys who will have to carry the batting load. Hopefully they prove me wrong but so far the number don't tell a great story

Shardul is a nostalgia pick based on the "golden arm" fallacy. In some conditions he is likely to find in England he may prove effective but they already have NKR for that purpose

He is in the India A side also touring England at the same time. If he scores a couple of hundreds there may be a way back into the side for him as it is pretty much a  guarantee that the new batting order will struggle on this tour with not a single played averaging even 45.

As is Karan really... It was between Karan and Khan I guess, I can understand why they went for Karan but it's harsh on Sarfaraz. It's good he's in the A team hope he gets big scores

Don't think NKR is nearly as good a bowler? Tbf to Shardul he does have that knack... and had a great FC season and we need a pace bowling AR

Don't think it was between them though, team needed a back up opener and feels like It had to be Easwaran

Sarfraz has not played any competitive match since nz series which was 9 months ago. He had a rib injury.m. Karun Nair his replacement had an ok season in First division county for Northamptonshire. Even Sai Sudarshan and Arshdeep singh has played first division county in last year. Fyi Pujara made heaps of runs in county playing for sussex but sussex was in second division.
