People keep saying this, but a) those guys got in off the back of good domestic performances and b) who else would you have got in? Bear in mind Sen and Umran got chances and didn't take them due to injury or just inconsistency

I am not a fan of Sai but I am completely against playing a WK as batsman in the team. 
 

Jurel has place in the team only as a WK. If Sai is not good enough then get someone else who is good enough.

 

But we have Rahul masquerading as batsman for last decade with his despicable batting average of 33. This bozo has played 58 tests and counting.

 

Sai has 38 FC avg  ,Sarfraz has 65 FC but he is not even in the squad. So is FC avg a selection criteria?

Abdv, sanga both were wicket keepers who played as batsmen. Currently ben ducket and Tom latham are wicketkeepers who play as batsmen.  So it's not unheard of.

Jurel with his batting in Aus, and in India Vs Aus showed he can play as a specialist 

 

If he is more capable than a specialist batsman then it doesn't matter that he is a keeper

But we were told, quite adamantly, he was gonna be a game changer in the Test series.

Sarfaraz should have been in the squad in place of  Sai.Sarfaraz is dropped without even not playing in Australia. 

Even Jurel, Paddikal ,Sai are preferred over him .The coach should have played him in Australia and England ,if he failed he could have dropped.

I think it wasn't between Sai and Sarfaraz, because Sai can bat in top 3. And Sarfaraz is a 5 or 6

 

Karun Nair took Sarfaraz spot. Harsh on Sarfaraz but you can see why selectors did it

Sarfraz khan used to keep wickets as well. Sai has a higher ceiling I suppose. Laxman was considered a dud at beginning but selectors stuck with him above jacob martin vishal bharadwaj kanitkar amol majmuder gagan khoda amay khurasiya et all all Of whom had good fc results..

Laxman was ruined by batting order shuffling. Once he got a fixed spot he averaged 50.

That is the problem, if idiot selectors cannot value FC avg of 65 plus guy did perform in chances he was given then what message are we sending to FC players. Why is the only guiy penalized for NZ series loss.He was the only Indian batsman to have scored 100 in that series.

 

There is no possible reason for his exclusion. WTF has Agarkar done, it is Bumrah or bust in bowling. Gambhir with his jingsostic nonsense has shown nothing as coach.
