He has been trying to prove his fitness for over a year. The bottom line is that he is not fit enough to sustain a test match workload and India are already carrying Bumrah who will need breaks to get through the series. Time to accept a 34 year old Shami is over the hill and his test match caeer is most likely over. Need to bring  on a younger set of players. They may not be world beaters but if that is the best India can produce, they have to be given a chance.

Easwaran is closing in on 30 and yet not made it to Indian team. He probably has a small window before it closes for him.

i agree.

fast bowling is directly proportional to fitness.

from fitness point of view, he is going down the hill very fast. his future lies in becoming a fast-bowling COACH now or may be play one more IPL. if he gets to play one more IPL , it will be good for him. 

Human body has his limitations. Rohit took the right call and even Kohli. kohili n rohit may play IPL for one more year and may play few odi games more..

May be Neither Thakur or NKR will make it if they cant bowl. To be honest I feel no.8 is too low for NKR anyway. They could just play NKR at no.6 instead and forget Karun Nair exists. 

 

Also hard to see how Jurel fits in with Pant and Rahul able to keep. Jurel only comes in if Pant flops.

it may have 6 bowling options but that lineup needs more genuine wicket-takers. Extending theoretical batting lineups has never worked for India. The way to win overseas is to have genuine wicket takers. Bumrah and Kuldeep must play and Shardul has done nothing to find a place in the first XI so that would the obvious place he can come in. NKR can also be replaced by Karun if he is playing mainly as a batsman. I also think Jadeja doesn't offer that much as a bowler in these conditions and his batting is ok but it was only useful because of a very fragile top order. I would focus to ensuring the focus is on playing the genuine wicket takers and the others can support them. If they still get thrashed so be it but a side full of trundlers and average batsmen has very little chance in a 5 match series in England

Probably a better bet in Indian conditions where he plays these sweep shots effectively.  Definitely not a pedigree batsman. More like the praveen Amre category.

Shami averages 42 in England. Not a big miss at all.

i rated Khaleel better than Arshdeep. i did not see his bowling so i cant say much till now but i am happy that he is proving me right.

Anshul Kambhoj though very accurate is so slow that he is 120 to 133k bowler( trundler). he can be considered in india 11 if he is creating a banana swing.

Tushar has taken 5 wicket spells in Mumbai, but he is not really showing that kinda spells here. 

So i see only Khaleel and may be Harshit Rana trying to challenge the main bowlers Prasidh/arsh/akash/siraj.(..Boom is not in that class.)

i kinda have a feeling Harshit and khaleel may also get a chance in the 5 test series and both of them will play in the 11 in the test series at some stage.

 

Prasidh/ Arshdeep /Akashdeep/Siraj have to work really hard and bowl 140 +, if they bowl 120 to 137k - they will fail. They need to bowl 128 to 149k. Arsh has swing capabilities and if he does not get his swing he will fail big time.

SAI is in top form - he, Karun Nair and KL rahul are in full form so they are guaranteed to SUCEED in the test series.

Even abhimanyu has hit a 50 now and it seems he is playing carefully and may hit a century, but Karun Nair seems a much better batsman than abhimanyu.

 

if Kuldeep is successful than we are winning the test series as Pace attack is not the best. harshit rana and khaleel should be in the final 18.

Eswaran is an opener. India has Jaiswal, Gill, Sai Sudarshan. Only MO spot is left. Karun may be playing as he has county experience as well.

Let's see. He is in the squad as an AR. I'm not a big fan but unfortunately we need him, I don't think we can go in with four pacemen and Jadeja as our batting is too fragile..
