This game is basically a glorified net session and India's performance is in keeping with the standard of opposition. Nothing learnt that we didn't already know

Yeah. Bowling is rubbish from both sides

what a crap pitch they have dished out. I am not sure how evento assess the performance of both bowling and batting.

Bazzball is suited to such wkts and its a new batting line-up for Ind, eng can work with that concept no need for extra help for bowlers if batter can out-bat the other side

More about the weather conditions in England so far this year. It has been the warmest and driest spring I can remember for a long time. The pitch is a normal English pitch. Normally India would like these as batting is not so challenging as the main thing you have to worry about is the bowler's skill not the conditions. At the same time any mediocre bowlers get quickly exposed.

It's not just the weather or the pitches. It's the Dukes ball as well.

Since 2022, it's been a poor product .

But there are older batches of Dukes balls still at these grounds.

Suspect England are indulging in some dodgy gamesmanship with replacing newer ones with ones from the old batch as we saw in 2023 Ashes

Possibly but I don't think anyone in the English game cares that much about this meaningless match or to rely on skulduggery to beat India. England are very strong at home and have not lost a series at home  for 13 years ( to India for 18 years)  and whatever the ball the new look Indian side is unlikely to do any better than much more experienced sides could

No wonder Indian team does not want to waste their time on these tour games. Visiting teams hardly get proper tune up with these matches.Inter squad matches with intensity might be better option to prepare.

regardless.. batting time on pitches against unfamiliar faces is still better practice to an extent on new conditions compared to facing same team mates again and again.. this Lions players aren't 3rd string. we let them score 3 hundreds by players in their innings

The reasoning is visiting teams don't get enough practice for all team members. Guy like Nitish reddy will hardly get a second chance to bat after his first innings failure.

Like you said facing your own team members also has its drawbacks.Fielding for 145 overs like India A team has done this innings will do more harm than good if this was the only  practice match before test matches.

Well isnt that a testament on how ordinary Indian bowlers have been that it took them 145 overs to bowl out a ordinary opposition and allowing them to make 3 hundreds between them?

I think there is another one- but its an intra squad one..

No you cannot say that, if pitches are flat like this one , it is just waste of everyone's time.
