The pitches in England have changed since 2022 due to Bazball, however this will backfire as Indians have played in such pitches all their lives during their developmental stage.

Gill was a walking wicket in SENA prior to this series, a pleasant surprise the they way he has turned it around, well done, but hardly any swing or seam. Batsmen in series have got out mainly making mistakes rather than bowlers do anything great apart from a few deliveries here and there.

I think England now is in a fix, if they produce flat pitches India can manage and if it is grassy then England themselves will be exposed.

We need to celebrate what Rohit did do in his career rather than keep harping him on what he did not do. The last 2 icc trophies won by India, Rohit was a big factor, highest score 2025 CT final and highest scorer for India in the 2024 T20 WC.

This thread was made for a Test series to make sneaky comment on our team without him, thar after he led to a home loss and BGT thrashing Nothing to do with his white ball exploits

Clearly talking about captaincy.

Match Winning/Impactful ability very important (i.e. Rohit 12 out 12 100’s in wins)

Bumrah (Both tests he played in series likely to be in losses)

KL (Both 100’s scored in series likely to be in losses)

Pant (Both 100’s scored in series likely to be in losses)

The players for India who have scored this series were already in team i.e. KL, Gill, Jaiswal and Pant.

Newbies Karun & Sai are not really upto the mark. Before these guys Eashwaran should have had a go.

Based on the pitches we have had Rohit would have done decent also, this sort of situation demanded an experience hand to calm dressing room and not panic.

Gill trying to be aggressive in Kohli mould seems fake. Need to be true to yourself, Rohit never followed Kohli ways but was still successful in white ball cricket as captain. In tests he was also ok until the last 2 test series he was captain.

We saw how great Rohit did in that Gabba chase. What has Rohit done in his test career to show he could do anything worthwhile now.

He did score a crucial 44 in 1st innings of Gabba test 2021, he saw of new ball.

Rohit was India’s best Test Batsmen in 1st 2 WTC cycles.

Overseas was decent in England and WI (a couple of 100’s there), I am sure you have seen recent Aus WI series in terms of batting.

Runs in India also count, all 100’s scored in Test cricket are in wins. This suggests pitches he scored in were not straight forward hence resulted in wins not draws so opponents could not bat on these same pitches, it helps India had quality spin attack but some the pitches in India in recent years were not easy for Indian batsmen either.

I don't think so, he was as useless as they come. Stop making him into something he never was at any point in his career.

Come to India we will see becoming test captain was the biggest joke.

When you play for so long you are bound to have some scores , it does not mean you are good batsman.Rohit Sharma never was good enough to handle the bat in tough away conditions. If he was not playing white ball cricket his test career would have been finished long long time ago. He conveniently skipped so many tough tours.

It was that idiot Ganguly who screwed it up by butting in the team selections and captaincy affairs.Forget being captain Rohit never deserved to be in the test team for that long.
