Poor bowling performance probably overshadowed dismal collapse where team lost 7 wickets for 40 runs when there was opportunity to bat England out of the game by scoring 550+.

 

Same thing happened v NZ at home in first test. India was dominating with 433-4 at one point scoring at 5 RPO and lost next 6 wickets for 29 runs when NZ got 2nd new ball.

 

IIRC that match also had a set batsman (Sarfaraz at 150) going for big shot? Here also Gill went to hit six and then team collapsed after that.

Seems like this team is good to compete on 330-360 type conditions only.

 

Doesn't has reliable batting to score 550-600 and bat out opposition on flat pitches. Misses out key moments on 150-200 type pitches.

Glorious uncertainty of test match cricket, blah blah but we should have scored atleast 40-50 more with the platform we had.

Completely unacceptable. 393/3 should get you to 550 minimum no matter what

The bowlers have to put value on their wickets.Thakur played an expansive drive in last over before lunch.He is much better batsman.

Inglaterra should comfortably score 350 on day 5 with only Bumrah as the challenge. Again these later order collapses will lose Bharat the match.

You can blame bowlers as much as you want, but conceding 400 runs on flat pitch not abnormal, however losing 13 wickets for 74 runs on flat pitch is unparalleled.

No stronger team have lost more wickets in a session.When you have 5 bowlers who cannot handle a bat, you are batting with just 6 batsman.Out of that one is Karun Nair.

 

So 4 or 5 wickets down is as good as all out.

Yeah man, collapse after collapse every innings. Just because one well settled pair make things look easy with a big partnership, the rest of the batters cannot take it easy and throw away the game! What is this contentment with par score? Where is the hunger to bat on and on till the declaration is called?

So who is to be blamed for second inning collapse?

 

Nair is obvious.Do you think bowlers have capability to handle the bat?

Indian batting had 2 easy opportunities to bat England out of the game and missed both opportunities.

I thought the same after first innings but I don't think what happened in this test is abnormal for Indian team.

 

They don't have Starc, Cummins or England bowlers as lower order batsmen,We literally have 4 number 11s.

I expected Thakur to put up 25-30 runs. Nair could have scored another 20-25 more. 50 extra runs and 12-13 more overs of batting from us would have made things a little less easier for England.

I agree but I don't think they are good enough at this stage to do it.
