Indian batsmen gifting their wickets away when the opposition is under the pump (Tests)

Just take a look at this series itself. 

1. Shubman Gill blindly slogging and getting caught in the deep against Bashir in the first test when India was on 430-3. His dismissal was the difference between 550+ and 470. 

2. KL Rahul running Rishabh Pant out when India was on 250-3. This dismissal was the difference between 500+ and 390. 

These incidents might not appear to be harmful but its things like this that define which team wins the test match and even the series.

Meh happening for ages, Gambhir ran out Sehwag when he was killing Pak bowlers in 2005 Bangalore test! Then Sehwag (Jaffer?) did a Seppuku in third test on SA 2007 tour. SRT played on to the stumps vs third hand Mcgrath clone in 2008 Sydney test that we lost on last day, collective brain fade against Mendis in SL - the list is literally endless!

This is what Gill did well in 2nd Test. No chances given.

I find the second example much more egregious. I don't blame the batter for getting dismissed in search of quick runs when the team score is 430/3. But I find it moronic to throw your wkt away to a run out when the team is behind and the wkt is thrown for a milestone (to get Rahul to a 100 before lunch).

 

KL Rahul and to a lesser extent Pant are the guilty party. Won't blame Gill much for getting out for 160 with the score at 430/3.

You get a chance to play a series in Eng without Broad & Anderson + flat pitches and you still lose.. blame lies squarely on the batsmen.

On these pitches which ever batsmen get set should go all the way, especially in the first innings . There should be no 70-130 scores. Gill showed how its done in second test, hope they get a wake-up call in next two games
