Jitesh can't be trusted vs international bowlers ,who would you drop for him in middle order who have actually performed uptill now Had he been a opener that would have been fine, that is why I want someone from the top from Abhi,Jaiswal take up wicket keeping for T20 s only that solves many of our T20 problems tapandrun 1

It's a simple swap between Samson and Jitesh lower down the order. My ideal T20 team would be: Abhishek Jaiswal Tilak Iyer (c) Axar Pandya Dube (or Parag, Rinku) Jitesh (wk) Kuldeep (for spin friendly pitches) or Arshdeep (for SENA or where pitches not helpful for spinners) Bumrah Varun C Jitesh will come in at the death and his only job would be to hit out and he's much better than Samson at doing so. Samson is useless if he doesn't bat in the top 3. Jitesh's a much better option over Samson for fitting in middle or lower order.

Lower down all you can expect from Samson is a single digit score at a SR around 100. Jitesh can get you 15 ball 25 type of scores and can hit from ball one.

Jitesh cannot do it,he's not international class also low on game time

There is no evidence that he is an intnl quality t20i lower order batter. All his 6s came in 1 match vs Aus think they were not playing their top team there. When he was dropped from the team(not exactly sure if dropped or its when Ind moved to Sanju as keeper again) it was due to inability to hit vs good bowlers. IPL is top league and most of ipl teams would beat other intnl teams 7/10 times. But when it comes to top 3 intnl teams playing their 100% strength then its a different deal. He is not tim david who has brute power and shown his hitting in other leagues. No Ind wk walks into playing 11 hence they have to open to maximize their ability and open-up a spot for additional player. Their job is to maximize the pp. Go from ball 1 take necessary risks if needed. Edited October 2, 2025 by tapandrun Suhaan 1

Yes,his not international standard he's at best good for rcb ,there too he might soon get replaced Opening is one job or being in top 3 is where Samson is best among this lot, even better than Pantatunga Jitesh cannot replace anyone for he has to be better

If opp. has to use and hopefully waste their top bowlers against any batter it has to be him. Say Arher bowls 9 ball to him goes for 18-20 runs even if sanju got out by then he would have scored 25+ runs by then and Ind would be 40-45 , thats a good trade off. Plus with him no team will be able to use an off-spinner in PP vs Abhishek Edited October 2, 2025 by tapandrun

Ultimate_Game Posted December 12, 2025 Author Posted December 12, 2025 Bump... asking the same question. Gill has completely destroyed the T20 team and it's looking and playing like the same old one from 2020 If Abhishek gets out early we may as well call it a day. Adamant, tweaker and rollingstoned 3

Sooda Posted December 12, 2025 Posted December 12, 2025 To his credit he is trying to play the team want him to play though it doesn't come naturally to him . His SR over the last year as opener has been 143.7 which for him is good. He simply isn't a natural T20 bat. tapandrun 1

tapandrun Posted December 12, 2025 Posted December 12, 2025 Gill selection in all the formats is similar to how they did the same thing with KL and Pant at one time. Bcci have been looking for next gen super star or may be stop gap, they thought KL and pant can be those stars but both failed in one format or other and were not able to get to that position. Now its Gill, he just leap frogged jaiswal in t20is or white-ball cricket in general, bcci made sure jaiswal does not play t20 games be it t20is or domestic t20 saying he need to focus and practice on up-coming tests. Why jaiswal not playing (or he is playing smat ??) in smat??

We have natural batters in Jaiswal, Arya, Suryavanshi and even Sai would be better. Why force Gill into the team if he isn't a fit?

With due respect, this take is complete horse manure. where was the necessity for the team to ask him to do anything? It wasn’t like the team was struggling to find an opener. The team had an amazing opening pair in Sanju & Abhishek. They axed an inform Sanju, the made Gill the VC & made him to open, because that’s the only position he is comfortable, even though he is bad at it, in this format. he is a selfish prick who is destroying the team few months from sending one of our best t20WC lineups. At least, Rohit & Virat had become legends before having this level of entitlement. Edited December 13, 2025 by IndianRenegade Ultimate_Game and New guy 2

Not anymore and all thanks to this fetish of pushing Gill across all the formats with likes of Jaiswal, Rinku, Parag etc. ignored despite much better pedigree in the T20 format.

As a player he will always want to play in every format. It is not his fault that he is selected and made VC. If he was happy not playing then there is something very wrong with him. Selection is job of selectors with input from coach. What entitlement has he shown.

As a leader you ought to be able to put the need of the team ahead, there was no need for a new opening pair. They even delayed announcing the T20 squad until he became fit. At least to me it isn’t believable that he has no inputs in the team. Bigger players than him like Eion Morgan have offered to drop himself.
