Indians do go there. I just find it to be a concrete jungle with no flavour of life. Everybody is moving like a robot there

On weekends people do short trips to Bali, Vietnam, Cambodia, KL, Palawan or  Thailand.

I am not a fan of the place, but a lot of people I know in the legal, legal + FMCG and Finance fields have moved there.

Its also very child friendly.

SG is just a cleaner Chennai. Weather, congestion are still there. People live like rats in small apartments. :wall::wall::wall::wall:

Unless you are a worker drone that can put in 20 hours a day, SG is not so great.

I lived near Anthony road and was there for 2 months almost. Super efficient and lot of expats preferred SG over the UK. However its humid, more humid than Kerala minus the heat.

Work culture, yes can be stringent unless you work for an American company.

Work culture and the cramped housing. :((.

My bro settled in Kaneda and has a 5000 sq.ft  house. You will not get such luxury in SG.

Our NRIs take this low trust behaviour from their childhood to abroad. MFers do not lobby at all.

People complain about NRIs not doing enough, but be realistic. Indian Government need to find ways to organise and cultivate them for polical postures. 99% of NRIs from my circle have been doing holidays in Turkey. I kept telling them for past 10 years not to go Turkey for holidays. None listened, till they saw Turkish posture during Operation Sindoor. even now, very few know that Turkey docked a anti sub ship to protect Karachi Port throughout OP Sindoor

It depends at what stage of life you are in. If you have kids and you have more or less made up your mind that your kids don't need to return to India for an education, then Singapore is better.

My sister and her family stay in Dubai. While its super safe, clean and all of that, both she and her husband (doctors both) are tied in to their respective employment sponsoring hospitals. They will find it extremely difficult to change jobs. In Singapore job switching is far easier.

Also in terms of public transport, Singapore is right up there with London.

Dubai is better for those in their 20s. Singapore for those in their 30s.

Dubai just feels more artificial to me, unlike SG which has an intricate mix of Malay, Han Chinese and some Tamil culture elements. Dubai does offer an advantage with proximity to Europe though.

I can never live there.

Most Indians do not realise that they are part of a greater civilization. Their group consciousness stops with immediate family or at most region/caste.

Horrible place to live. There are daily articles about somebody getting persecuted for apparently blaspheming Islam in their local papers. Visit, enjoy the tourist attactions and get the hell out.

Singapore IMO is way better than most places if you were to stay abroad. Cheap flight tickets to anywhere you want when you get bored of the city. Otherwise a pleasure to be there. Love visiting Singapore.

America is a declining nation. I can tell because I live here. They are yet to come to terms with their decline. Quality of life is already dead in most American states except some coastal giants like NY CA and TX… maybe you can throw in Florida there as well but the system is overburdened with too much debt and liabilities you cannot wish away. It will require significant austerity cuts and a reduction of America’s global footprint through which they control the world.

Till this date, I find it hilarious that Trump wants to bring back manufacturing to the United States without significant devaluation of the dollar. I mean imagine buying a T-shirt Made in USA for 30 dollars when same thing can be made in Bangladesh for 2 :hysterical:

Singapore:

- Punishing humidity (outside) v/s recycled air conditioned air (inside)

I am not a fan of apartment living. I need my fresh air and space.

All that said, I absolutely respect what SG has achieved. For such a small space and where they were 50 years ago, their transformation is nothing short of amazing.

What actually concerns me is that there are rumours of crypto replacing USD to pay off external debt. Crypto = anarchy
