He steps up whenever team is in trouble. But you have to do somethign special to stand out especially winning cause. If your knocks come in losing and drawn matches nobody will pay attention. Gollum Posted November 19, 2025 Posted November 19, 2025 Lone man effort by Rinku today against TN, 176 facing a steep total of 450 odd by the opponent. UP were 190/5 at one stage, when Rinku was in his 20s. Manucrick 1

India has too much batting talent , they don't have to settle for bits and pieces players.

Should he be punished because he also brings a piece with him? E.g., Putrevus can bat and bowl. Backtocricaddict can only bat. But Putrevus' batting >>>>>Backtocricaddict's batting. Should they pick Backtocricaddict because the only thing he can do is kinda bat and is therefore a "specialist"? Edited November 19, 2025 by BacktoCricaddict

No, but do you see those bits and pieces players whose batting is better than regular batsman alone. Edited November 19, 2025 by putrevus

Problem is selections not the talent in this case. Rinku is better than both, so is Sarfraz. Edited November 19, 2025 by putrevus BacktoCricaddict 1

I would contend that Sundar >> Padikkal as a test bat. Perhaps on par or better than Sai S. Lord 1

vvvslaxman Posted November 19, 2025 Posted November 19, 2025 India needs to hire some professionals to come up with analysis of quality of these knocks. Scoring 100s on roads whee more than 3 or 4 guys score 100s should not have same weightage as someone producing a back to the wall performance. Also quality of attack, surface quality have to be factored in. Otherwise we just go by raw numbers hoping they would repliacte at the highest level.

neel roy Posted November 20, 2025 Posted November 20, 2025 Rinku would have been indias bavuma close. Low centre of gravity. Can sweep. Can defend. Can hit out. Can play cuts. I would take him ona heartbeat. Even above Jurel
